Lovehoney Sex Toy Advent Calendar Door #11: Mini G-Spot Vibrator

Update 04/03/22: this product is seasonal only and has been discontinued. Individual components may still be available.

Welcome back again for another installment of “Amy reviews Lovehoney’s “Best Sex of Your Life” sex toy advent calendar. Each day, I’m opening up a door and telling you guys about what’s inside. It’s been an interesting mixed bag so far, so let’s see what Day 11 has in store.

Door #11: Mini G-Spot Vibrator

Lovehoney sex toy advent calendar description of G-spot vibe

This is the first vibrating toy since Day 1’s bullet vibrator. Exciting! Let’s start with a few basic stats:

  • Material: ABS plastic
  • Colour: Black.
  • Body safe? Yes. ABS plastic is non-porous and non-toxic.
  • Power: 1 AA battery (not included).
  • Waterproof: No.
  • Size: 5″ in length, 1″ in diameter.
  • Lube compatible: Yes, all kinds.
  • Cleaning: Body-safe sterile wipe.

This plastic G-spot vibrator features a straight handle and curved, gently tapered tip for precision stimulation. If you prefer girthy toys or very deep stimulation, it won’t do much for you, but for basic vibrating G-spot action it’s perfectly serviceable.

I don’t love that it requires a disposable battery, partly for environmental reasons (rechargeable toys are so much more eco-friendly) and partly because having to hunt around for batteries before a wank session is super annoying. But to be fair, if anyone reads the small print on the advent calendar’s box, it does warn you that you’ll need a battery for one of the items. Inserting and changing the battery is easy. Simply unscrew the top and bottom halves of the toy, pop your battery in, and screw it back up again.

How to open the Lovehoney mini G-spot vibrator

The controls are a simple twist mechanism. Turn until the little arrow on the side points to “on” or “off”. This vibe has only one speed. It’s actually reasonable, power-wise, for a one-AA-battery basic vibe, though much buzzier than I prefer. Volume-wise, it’s not too bad, though it does make a slight “rattly” noise when I press it hard against my body.

If, like me, you find that internal vibrations don’t do much for you, this G-spot vibrator also works well as a clitoral toy. Use the side of the shaft for broad stimulation and the tip for more precision. Of course, it’s also good for penises, balls, and anywhere else where vibrations feel good. (Not butts, though – this toy is not anal safe).

The Best Sex of Your Life advent calendar is available now and for a limited time. It retails for £120 but contains about £370 worth of stuff. You can get 10% off your purchase of this or any other items at Lovehoney by using my code “coffkink10” at checkout.

[Toy Review] Sohimi Rose Queen

[Update 01/11/23: this product has been discontinued. I have removed dead links but left the post up for information.]

I tend to come to cheap sex toys with a healthy degree of scepticism. Yes, there are amazing toys costing under £30 out there. But so many budget sex toys are poor in quality, made of unsafe materials, have shitty buzzy motors, or die after three uses. I say all this to illustrate how impressed I was with the Sohimi Rose Queen, a $37.99 (that’s about £27.50) dual purpose sex toy that absolutely blew me away.

A Rose Queen by any other name…

(Yes, there are going to be rose puns.)

The Sohimi Rose Queen is a dual purpose sex toy shaped like – you guessed it – a rose on a stem. Look how pretty it is!

Sohimi Rose Queen review product

The flower part of the rose houses a clitoral suction toy, while the handle is a vibrator that can be used internally or externally. Given that the rose head offers a form of flared base, you could even use it anally, if you wanted.

The Sohimi Rose Queen is made of soft and body-safe silicone in a bright shade of red. (Real silicone, not a weird blend or an unsafe gel material masquerading as silicone!) It is rechargeable, offering an hour’s run time and taking around two hours to charge via the included magnetic cable, and fully waterproof.

Sohimi Rose Queen clit sucking vibrator

This toy measures 8″ in total length, of which 6″ makes up the insertable handle and 2″ the rose head. The shaft measures 1.3″ in diameter at the widest point and is lovely and flexible.

Interface and functionality

The Sohimi Rose Queen features two buttons, located on the top of the shaft just below the rose head. The top button (with a lips icon) controls the suction functionality, while the bottom button (with a vibration waves icon) controls the vibrations in the shaft.

Sohimi Rose Queen double ended vibrator buttons

You can use both settings at once, though I’m not really sure why you’d want to.

The clitoral sucking rose head offers five settings: three constant speeds and two pulsing settings. The vibrating end, meanwhile, offers 10 settings: 3 speeds and 7 patterns. I’d have preferred two-way controls, as you have to scroll all the way through to find the settings you want, but we can’t have everything. Remember, this is a $38 vibrator.

Sohimi Rose Queen close-up of clitoral sucking vibrator

Volume-wise, the Rose Queen is acceptable. The vibrations are about what you’d expect for the level of power on offer. Unusually, the clitoral suction end actually gets louder when applied to the body. According to Sohimi, the toy’s highest volume is still under 30 dB, so it’s not egregiously loud or anything.

Rose to the occasion?

So how did the Sohimi Rose Queen fare in use?

The most important thing with any sex toy, ultimately, is “did it get me off?” And dear God, yes, the Rose Queen got me off!

The nozzle is wide enough to encompass a good portion of the external clit, and the silicone is soft enough to provide comfort during use, especially if you add plenty of lube to its rim.

Here’s something I’ve learned: if suction sex toys feel too intense for you, try applying the nozzle over your clitoral hood rather than directly to the glans itself. Many people find that this lowers the overwhelming intensity without reducing pleasure.

Sohimi Rose Queen flexible shaft vibrator

The shape of this toy is a real godsend. Many suction toys are difficult to hold or position in the way that works for my body, simply due to their shape. But the Sohimi Rose Queen’s flexible stem handle is not only comfortable and ergonomic to hold, but also makes it easy to manipulate the toy into my desired position and keep it there.

The vibrating end did less for me. I’m not a fan of internal vibrations, and the vibes are a little too buzzy to do much for me in the way of clitoral stimulation. However, the firm-yet-flexible silicone means it can be used as an insertable dildo for G-spot (or prostate) stimulation, if that’s your thing.

I doubt I’ll reach for the Rose Queen for internal use much, if at all. But that rose head end though? Yes, that’s going to see plenty of use!

Verdict

If you’re looking for an affordable, dual purpose sex toy that offers both vibrations and sucking action, then you’ve found it. The Rose Queen isn’t perfect, of course. The lack of two-way controls and the buzzy vibrations are notable downsides. But overall, it’s a great product that is made of quality materials and gets the job done.

I don’t usually care much about packaging, unless you count getting upset by excessive single-use plastics. But the Rose Queen came packaged in a lovely sturdy box with a rose design on the outside. If you’re on a budget but want to give your loved one a toy that feels special, this is a really nice touch that makes the Rose Queen ideal for gifting.

[Toy Review] Osuga Cuddly Bird

Osuga is a woman-owned sexual wellness brand founded in 2015 and based in Hong Kong. Their Cuddly Bird toy for people with vulvas has won awards including a Bronze IDEA Award (2020) and a Golden Pin Design Award (2019). So I was pretty excited to try it and see what all the hype is about.

The Osuga Cuddly Bird is so named, because… well, look at it!

Osuga clit sucking sex toy Cuddly Bird

It was posted discreetly and inside, the toy was packaged in a sturdy Osuga-branded box. In the box you’ll find the toy, its charging base and cable, a set of instructions, and a soft, velvety storage bag in the same colour as your toy.

Design and Materials

The Osuga Cuddly Bird is really two toys in one, featuring an ordinary motor for use as a traditional vibrator as well as a nozzle with clitoral suction function.

The Cuddly Bird measures just a hair over 3″ in height. Its body circumference is 7″ (2.2″ diameter) at the widest point, and the clitoral nozzle is 0.5″ in diameter. It weighs in at 133g.

This toy is made of ultra-soft silicone which feels thick and plushy as well as being body-safe and hygienic. Aesthetically, it’s really cute and pretty. I got the mint green variation (my favourite colour aside from purple!) but you can also get it in pastel pink or yellow. The inclusion of a matching storage bag is a nice touch. I particularly enjoyed the charging port looking like a little bird cage:

Cuddly Bird clit sucking vibrator in birdcage charging port

Fun fact: the charging cage will stay lit up as long as it’s plugged in, even as the toy is removed, so you could double its function as a mini night-light if you wish. If the toy is attached, the light will switch off when the toy is fully charged.

The Cuddly Bird is somewhat waterproof. The website says it’s suitable for shower usage and the booklet advises not submersing it below 30cm. Run time is about 2.5 hours on suction mode or 80 minutes on vibration mode for a full charge.

User Interface

The Cuddly Bird has two buttons, one for each of its functionalities. The button with the circle icon controls the suction, and the button with the two wavy lines icon controls the vibration.

Sex toy control buttons

The buttons are sensibly located on the base of the toy and are easy to press. Simply press and hold the button for your desired function to switch it on, use the same button to scroll through the settings (three vibration speeds and one pattern on the vibrating side, three speeds on the suction side.)

Be aware that you can’t use the vibrations and suction at the same time. It’s easy to switch between them, but I would have appreciated the ability to try using them together.

Cuddly Bird in Use

I’ll start by saying that the vibration settings didn’t really do much for me. They’re pretty buzzy, and that isn’t a sensation that works well for my body. The power is also dampened a lot by the thick silicone. If you prefer gentler or buzzier vibrations, the Cuddly Bird may work well for you. But if you’re like me and prefer a deeper rumble, skip this toy’s vibrating mode.

The suction setting, though? Well, that is a different matter entirely!

I have a pretty small glans clitoris (that’s the external bit, for anyone who isn’t a sex ed nerd like me!) and this toy’s nozzle is just the right size to envelop it.

I found the shape of the Cuddly Bird easy and comfortable to hold. For me, the best angle was using it sideways on (so the toy at 90 degrees to my body, closing around my clit from the left hand side). Your mileage may vary and suction toys are notoriously different for every body, so experiment and see what works for you.

Cuddly Bird vibrator

Once I had the angle right, the Cuddly Bird delivered near-perfectly in terms of what I look for from a clitoral suction toy. It very quickly brought me to the point of orgasm. When I’d finished, my legs were shaking – always a sign of a good time!

Bonus: the Cuddly Bird is relatively quiet, maxing out at around 50dB. It easily passed my extremely scientific “door closed, under a blanket” test, and it’s quiet enough that I can comfortably watch porn or listen to audio smut while using it.

Top Tips for Choosing and Using Your Vibrator

I often say that sex education failed me and I believe it failed many of us. One of the most critical aspects of sexuality as a whole is… pleasure! And guess what didn’t get a mention in any of the sex ed I received? Yup, you’ve guessed it.

Like me, Osuga believes that “sex is a beautiful and natural experience” and wants everyone who desires it to have the best sex possible. What that looks like will be different for every person. But whether you’re monogamous or open, queer or straight, male or female or non-binary, you can use toys to enhance your sex life if you want to. Here’s a very quick rundown of my top tips for choosing and using a sex toy:

  1. Pay attention to what YOU like, not what you (or your partner, or society) think people with your body parts are “supposed” to like.
  2. Choose a body-safe product. There are so many affordable body-safe options on the market nowadays!
  3. If you’re new to using toys, aim for a versatile product that you can use to explore different sensations.
  4. Lube makes just about everything better. Choose a safe, water-based lube with as few ingredients as possible.
  5. Clean your toy between every use (see the next section for more info) to keep it hygienic.
  6. Consider experimenting with a toy on your own before introducing it into partnered sex.
  7. If you’re bringing toys into partnered play (which is awesome – yay!) make sure you communicate honestly about what’s working and what isn’t. Aim for exploration and mutual pleasure, not a specific goal.

Most importantly of all, remember that sexuality and sexual pleasure are endlessly, beautifully unique. There’s no right and wrong way to explore or use toys. If you’re staying safe and having fun, then you’re doing it right.

How to Clean Your Sex Toy

If there’s one question about toys I get asked more than any other, it’s probably “how do I keep my sex toys clean?” I actually wrote a whole article about this, but here’s an executive summary:

  • You can boil a silicone or stainless steel sex toy that doesn’t contain a motor (or pop it in the dishwasher on the top rack).
  • For toys with motors, like the Cuddly Bird, you can’t boil them as it will destroy the motor. Instead, use either a 10% bleach solution (9 parts water to 1 part bleach) or a body-safe sterile wipe (I get mine from a medical supplies website). Then rinse your toy and let it dry thoroughly before you put it away.
  • It’s safe to share non-porous toys like the Cuddly Bird, in general, but sterilise it between users unless you’re fluid bonded.

If you take care of it, a body-safe sex toy in a material like silicone will last you for years. A great investment in your pleasure, I’m sure you’ll agree.

Cuddly Bird: Verdict

(Bird-ict? No.)

The Cuddly Bird is a really fabulous little clit sucker. It was a pleasure to use, it got the job done, and the fact that it’s cute as hell and in one of my favourite colours doesn’t hurt, either!

The Osuga Cuddly Bird retails for just under £90 (around $110 for my US friends). You can get $40 off using my link and the code “Coffee”.

[Toy Review] Blush Impressions N1

I’m a big fan of Blush products. Not only do they make fun pride themed dildos and an excellent mini wand, they also make my favourite bullet vibe ever. For that reason, I was super excited to receive the Impressions N1 vibrating dildo to review.

First Impressions of the N1

(See what I did there?)

The Impressions N1 by Blush Novelties is a curvy vibrating dildo. Made of smooth and body-safe silicone in sleek black, it is 6.75″ in length 5.75″ insertable) and 1.5″ in diameter at the widest point.

Impressions N1 black silicone G-spot dildo

The N1 features a suction cup base and is USB rechargeable via the included magnetic cable. It’s also waterproof.

My Impressions N1 came packaged in a clear box that shows off the toy. I don’t love the amount of single-use plastic the packaging uses, but I do like that it allows the buyer to see the exact shape and size of the product.

Impressions N1 dildo by Blush Novelties black silicone vibrator

By the way: Blush products come with a 5 year warranty if you’re in the US or Canada. Sadly not for those of us in the UK.

A Multi-Purpose Toy

The Impressions N1 can be used in several ways: as a simple dildo, as a vibrator (internal or external), or with a harness for strap on play. Thanks to the flared base, it’s safe for anal as well as vaginal use.

As always, I recommend using water-based lube with your silicone toys for the best experience.

Shape and Design

The N1 has a gently curved design and a head with pronounced ridges. There is a seam in the silicone down the middle, but it’s subtle enough that it doesn’t really get in the way of the experience. Otherwise, the silicone is velvety smooth!

Impressions N1 black silicone strap-on dildo

The prominent head and ridges feel amazing against my G-spot. I absolutely love the shape and shaft design of the N1! It’s pretty flexible, particularly at the narrowest part of the shaft, for ease of insertion and manipulation. I’m a fan of smaller and moderate size dildos (large ones tend to hurt, or at least require a tonne of warm-up) and this one is the ideal length and width for my preferences.

By the way: the ridges and tapered tip feel wonderful against the clit, if external play is more your jam.

The suction cup is also seriously impressive. As I’m typing, it’s stuck to the wall next to me and it isn’t going anywhere! So if you want to stick it to the floor/wall/mirror/tub/ceiling (hey, I’m sure there are people who are into that!) for hands-free play, you can.

How are the Vibrations?

The Impressions N1 boasts 10 total vibration settings: 5 speeds and 5 patterns. If there’s one thing I love about Blush it’s that they use seriously good motors in their toys. The N1’s vibration settings

The vibrations are controlled via the simple two button interface located at the bottom of the shaft. The top button switches the toy on and off, while the bottom button scrolls through the patterns (no option to scroll through settings both ways, unfortunately.) My only complaint, and it is a small one, is that the buttons have fairly deep ridges that could harbour bacteria and are quite hard to clean.

Vibrator buttons on the Impressions N1 by Blush Novelties

The N1 is reasonably quiet for the level of power it offers. It passes the “can I hear it through a closed bedroom door?” test with flying colours.

Final Thoughts and Verdict

The Impressions N1 is an excellent, versatile toy. I’m happy to recommend it as a brilliant all-rounder. A well-designed shape, powerful motor, anal-safe and harness compatible, and

[Toy Review] Jopen Key Comet Wand

Update 15/09/23: unfortunately Self & More has now closed down. Links have been removed or amended to reflect this.

The Jopen Key Comet Wand has been on my wish-list for some time. It’s one of those toys I’ve seen so many sex bloggers rave about. Naturally, I wanted to try it! Luckily for me, the lovely folks at Self and More – a woman-owned, online store that stocks only body-safe products and uses ungendered marketing – were happy to hook me up.

Jopen Key Comet Wand packaging

Let’s take a closer look…

The Jopen Key Comet Wand is a two-in-one dildo. It’s a glass wand, and one end is dipped in body-safe pink silicone. It has a pronounced curve and two bulbous heads (the silicone head is larger than the glass head.)

Jopen Key Comet Wand on a red and white blanket

Thanks to the glass, the Comet Wand has a satisfying weight to it and is firm to the touch. You get around 5″ of insertable length from each end, and the diameter is 1.5″ at the widest point.

Your Comet Wand comes with a storage bag, which will help keep it lint free and prevent the glass from getting chipped in storage. The glass end features a stainless steel accent with the Jopen Key insignia.

Shape and feel

This toy is enduringly popular with fans of G-spot play. Having now had a chance to try it, I can see why.

When I play with rigid toys made of hard materials, I prefer to sort of wiggle them gently rather than thrust (which tends to be more painful than pleasurable.) The Comet Wand is absolutely amazing for this purpose. The curved shaft targets the right spot with ease, the firm, bulbed heads provide intense pressure, and the wand is large enough to create a feeling of fullness, without being so large as to be uncomfortable.

Jopen Key Comet Wand on a wooden floor

I can have G-spot orgasms reliably with the Comet Wand. Using it with a strong clitoral vibrator for blended orgasms is also amazing.

Whichever end you’re not using for penetration makes a convenient and ergonomic handle, making the Comet Wand comfortable to hold and manipulate.

I haven’t been able to try this out as I’m not able to see any of my vulva-owning lovers right now (curse you COVID!). But I suspect this toy would work well to use together if you’re into that, as it’s effectively double ended.

Jopen Key Comet Wand on a wooden floor

Whichever end of the toy you’re using, remember to use plenty of water-based lube to keep things comfortable.

Verdict

The Jopen Key Comet Wand is a genuinely excellent G-spot toy, effective and brilliant in its simplicity. If you enjoy firm internal stimulation and want tol

[Toy Review] Hot Octopuss Jett

I find myself in an interesting position: reviewing a toy designed for people with penises, when I myself do not have a penis. I’ve had the Hot Octopuss Jett sitting in my to-review pile for a ridiculously long time. Fortunately, the team have been incredibly patient in waiting for me to get this out.

Let’s jump in, shall we?

The Hot Octopuss Jett

The Jett, by Hot Octopuss, is an interesting cock-ring/vibrator combo. It consists of a three-part silicone sleeve. One hole is for the penis to go through, and the other two fit the Jett’s two removable bullet vibrators. The bullets are attached with wires to the remote control, which also houses the batteries.

The Hot Octopuss Jett

On a person with a cock, the toy is designed to be worn against the frenulum, just below the tip of the penis. Like this:

The Hot Octopuss Jett on the Godemiche Adam dildo
Stunt cock: Godemiche Adam

The stretchy sleeve expands as the penis engorges, and the toy purports to deliver hands-free orgasms to penis owners. Not having the required anatomy, I cannot comment from personal experience, but other reviews I’ve read imply that this is an accurate summary.

The Hot Octopuss Jett requires 4 AA batteries, which are not included. It comes with a silky Hot Octopuss branded storage bag. The Jett is not waterproof.

All about the Bass (and Treble)

So here’s the ridiculously cool thing about the Hot Octopuss Jett: the two vibrating bullets vibrate at different frequencies! In sex toy parlance, that means that one of the vibes is super deep and rumbly, while the other is more surface-level and buzzy.

Because you can control the speed of each bullet completely independently, you can adjust them until you find the combo that’s perfect for you. It’s basically two vibrators in one. Each bullet has six intensity settings.

The buttons are large plus/minus symbols, easy to press and easy to feel without looking. Pro tip: before you start playing, take a second to work out which button is controlling which bullet. The last thing you want is to turn the wrong one down at a critical moment!

The Hot Octopuss Jett control panel

The Jett also has 10 vibration patterns you can scroll through using the small button in the middle of the remote.

Care and cleaning

The Jett is made of a combination of two body-safe materials: silicone and ABS plastic. Add a bit of water-based lube for added comfort and enjoyment!

As the Jett is not waterproof, you’ll need to clean it carefully. The best way to do this is to wipe the bullets down with a body-safe medical wipe. You can sterilise the silicone sleeve using either the boil method or a 10% bleach solution.

Take the batteries out in between uses and they’ll last longer.

So how did I get on with it?

There’s never just one way to use a sex toy. (I mean, sometimes there are zero ways that make any sense, but I digress). Therefore, being the creative sex blogger that I am, I thought I’d set out to find ways to use the Hot Octopuss Jett as a vulva toy.

The most obvious use is to simply detach the bullets from the sleeve and use one or both of them as a clitoral vibrator. I tried this first, and hoooooooly shit.

The rumbly bullet (that’s the “Bass” side) is packing some serious power. I’m not exaggerating when I say this is the most powerful and rumbly battery-powered toy I’ve ever tried. Many rechargeables cannot hold a candle to this. If you like power and rumbles, and don’t mind some slightly fiddly wires, look no further.

The Hot Octopuss Jett brought me to orgasm in under 5 minutes, which is an extremely impressive feat for anything that isn’t a mains powered wand.

Naturally, I tried the buzzy side (the “Treble”) too. It wasn’t bad, as buzzy vibes go, but I’m just not really a fan in general. If you like more surface-level vibrations, though, it might suit you fine.

The other way for vulva owners to use this toy is to keep both bullets in the sleeve and press it against the clit. The advantage of doing it this way is that you can use the cock ring part as a little handle, or even slide two fingers through it and hold the toy in place that way.

The Hot Octopuss Jett in a womans hand

This method was a success, too. The silicone dampens the intensity of the vibrations a little, but not too much. This is the best way to use this toy on a vulva if you want to make the most of the treble/bass combo and the combined power of both bullets.

One little complaint: one of the wires tends to come loose during use, causing one of the bullets to cut out. Luckily it’s the buzzier bullet that has this issue on my Jett, so I don’t care as much, but it’s still kinda annoying.

Do I recommend it?

I’m really, really impressed with the Hot Octopuss Jett. Between this and the awesome Amo, this company are absolutely knocking it out of the park lately.

I heartily recommend the Jett. Yes, it’s designed with penises in mind, but it’s brilliant for vulvas too. New to sex toys and not sure if you like buzzy or rumbly vibes? The Jett is a great and relatively inexpensive way to try both and see what you prefer.

The Jett retails for a reasonably priced £49.95. If you buy from Hot Octopuss directly using my affiliate links, I make a small commission at no extra cost to you.

[Toy Review] Satisfyer Pro G-Spot Rabbit

The first time I tried a rabbit toy, I simply didn’t get what the hype was all about. I found it cumbersome to use, lacking in the kind of clitoral power I needed, and it was ugly to look at. As it turns out, though, I don’t actually hate all rabbit toys. I just hate a lot of them.

(#NotAllRabbits)?

I am pleased to report that I was very pleasantly surprised by the Satisfyer Pro G-Spot Rabbit. Given my general ambivalence to vibrations on my G-spot and the fact that my cunt is way too picky and fickle for most dual-stim toys, this is an achievement in itself.

Let’s take a look…

The shape of the Satisfyer G-Spot Rabbit is very much like a typical rabbit style vibrator, only instead of vibrating “ears,” it’s got one of Satisfyer’s signature suction-nozzle pressure wave clitoral stimulators. It’s white silicone with a rose gold button and a tiny rose gold accent around the clitoral arm.

The clitoral arm is rigid, while the insertable arm is flexible and tapers to a gentle point. The whole toy is about 9 inches in length, with an insertable length of 5 inches and a diameter of about 1.6 inches at the widest point. It’s  USB rechargeable and fully waterproof.

How did I find it?

Short version: I enjoyed it.

Long version: I loved it, BUT…

…This is not a “quick wank before bed” toy. It took me nearly an hour to get off with it (I measure this from cold to orgasm). But the whole experience was so pleasurable that I didn’t mind too much. It was a genuinely enjoyable slow build, rather than the sadly too common experience of trying to eke an orgasm out of a toy that I’d really rather just throw across the room.

I don’t think I’ll be using it frequently, but it’ll be a toy I might reach for when I’ve got some time and want to treat myself to a long, slow session with a delicious orgasm at the end of it.

I will say that I came so hard I think I woke the neighbours.

My Ratings (all scores out of 5★)

Price: ★★★★
The Satisfyer G-spot Rabbit is currently retailing for £53.99 at Bondara. This is about in line with Satisfyer’s typical price point. Sadly, it will be too expensive for some budgets, but you’re really paying for quality (and a 10 year manufacturer’s warranty!) so I am happy to recommend it as good value for money if you’re in the position to splash out for a toy.

Materials: ★★★★★
The material is lovely matte silicone, which is beautifully soft to the touch as well as non-porous and body safe. The accents and on/off button are plastic.

Appearance: ★★★
It’s white, y’all! White! I have literally never owned an almost-entirely-white sex toy until now. I kind of like it just for being so unusual. The accents are rose gold, as I mentioned above. The whole aesthetic is quite stylish in a minimalistic sort of way.

For some reason, it being white and so plain kind of makes me think of a medical device, which… yeah, that hits some kinks for me, but it might not work well for everyone.

Ease of Use: ★★
It’s not the lightest toy out there, so that’s something to be aware of if you struggle with heavier toys. The shape is ergonomic and the handle sat neatly and comfortably in my hand.

The buttons take some getting used to. The bottom gold button controls the internal arm, cycling through the speeds and the various patterns of vibration. Unfortunately you can only scroll through one way, which is far too common as a thing in general and always pisses me off. The second white button, situated above the gold one, controls the clitoral stimulator, which has various speed settings. Thankfully, this one turns down as well as up.

The white button is easy to press. The gold one has to be pushed a bit more firmly. I found the buttons well-placed during use of the toy.

The biggest difficulty in use is getting the clitoral stimulator to stay in place without jabbing yourself in the cervix with the G-spot arm. Realistically, this toy is only going to work for a small number of bodies. The rigidity of the clitoral arm and the bottom half of the internal arm make positioning a bit of a nightmare.

Ease of care & cleaning: ★★★★
The Satisfyer Pro Rabbit is silicone and is waterproof, which makes clean-up a breeze. You can wipe it with a sterile medical wipe, or submerge in water for a more thorough cleaning.

Unfortunately, though you can put a condom over the internal arm, it’s pretty much impossible to use a barrier with the clitoral stimulator. However, the nozzle tip is removable for easier cleaning, so you can sterilise it or even swap it out between partners for extra safety.

Versatility: ★★★
This toy has three possible constant speed settings on the and 7 different patterns of vibration. There’s also 11 speeds for the clitoral stimulator. What I really love about this toy is that you can control each of the two arms completely independently of each other.

I really like feeling full but don’t much care for vibrations on my G-spot, so it worked best for me when the insertable arm was inside me but switched off. Your mileage may vary, and the beauty of this toy is that you can mix and match the settings in whatever ways work for you. It’s also waterproof so you can take it in the bath or shower if that’s your thing.

Intensity:
★★★
The clitoral stimulator is about the level of intensity I expect from Satisfyer products, which is plenty. Any more intense and it would probably be painful! The strength of the vibrations on the G-spot arm are mediocre and quite buzzy. This wasn’t a problem for me (again, I don’t like vibrations inside so I just switched the damn thing off and used that arm like a dildo). But if you like strong internal vibrations, you might want to skip this one.

Overall Score: ★★★
Overall a decent toy which I very much enjoyed using. To get a higher score it would need stronger vibrations, better buttons, and more flex between the shafts to make it easier to position. If you enjoy suction-based toys and enjoy dual stimulation, this might work for you.

[Toy Review] Fifty Shades Freed “Lavish Attention” Vibrator

Update: this product has been discontinued

First, let’s address the elephant in the room.

I thought long and hard about whether or not to request, or accept, any of Lovehoney’s new Fifty Shades line of toys for review after attending their recent affiliate product showcase. In the end, I made a balanced decision that yes, I would review this line. Let me tell you why.

To say I have issues with the Fifty Shades franchise is an understatement. I believe those books are not just poorly written and questionably researched portrayals of bad BDSM – I actually believe they’re really harmful. The way they’re written, and marketed, passes off stalking, psychological abuse, disregard for consent and even rape as romantic. Check out Jenny Trout’s series or my friend Christine’s blog if you would like to learn why more and more sex-positive feminists are speaking out against this series.

However. A terrible first introduction though it is, more and more people are finding BDSM and the kink and sex-positive communities via this franchise. They read the book or watch the film and get turned on by all the kinky sex. “I want to do that!” they think. Okay. So where do they go? Maybe they search online. If they’re lucky, they’ll find brilliant educational blogs. If they poke around for any length of time in the internet kinkosphere, they’ll probably land on Fetlife sooner or later. They might come to a munch. And they might go and buy a sex toy, possibly for the first time ever.

The seasoned kinksters among us may roll our eyes each February when the newest film brings the influx of “the Fifty Shades crowd” to our online spaces or our local munch. But if we do not welcome these people, we are doing them a great disservice. If we push them away or look down on them, we’re completely failing to live up to our purported values of inclusion, respect and community. Not only that, but pushing them away means they’re more likely to practice kink in unsafe and uninformed ways, imitating what they’ve read in that trilogy. If we welcome them in, they will have access to tremendous resources of knowledge, experience and education. I’ve seen plenty of people who came to kink via Fifty Shades grow into fantastic, skilled, responsible kinksters.

People who come to kink via less-than-ideal source material deserve resources and information. They deserve support, a loving community and the same access to education that every single one of us needed when we were new, regardless of our route into the community.

They also deserve safe and quality toys.

The way I see it, the majority of people who are likely to gravitate towards Fifty Shades branded toys will probably fall closer to the “new/inexperienced” end of the demographic spectrum. They may never have purchased a vibrator or dildo before in their life! They’ll probably be completely overwhelmed by the sheer quantity and variety of toys on offer. If Fifty Shades was their way in – or even if it wasn’t, but it’s still the main current cultural touchstone for “kinky sex” – they may well gravitate towards these branded toys. People feel comforted by the familiar.

This, in a nutshell, is why I am glad that Lovehoney have made this Fifty Shades Freed line in the way they have. Having seen most of the products in the flesh (um, as it were,) I feel happy to say they’re a body-safe, user-friendly and just flat out good quality line of toys. I’m glad that inexperienced folks, new to the world of sex toys, are going to get quality products and not some shitty jelly-rubber, phthalate-ridden piece of crap when they Google “Fifty Shades sex toys”. (And yes, this is the first link that comes up when you do that search. I checked.)

With that out of the way… what did I think of the Lavish Attention?

The |Lovehoney Fifty Shades Freed Lavish Attention vibrator. A half moon shaped vibrator with a handle in a lovely plum colour;.

The Lavish Attention vibrator is a dual clitoral and G-spot toy. Its shape is like a half moon on top of a handle. The internal part is nice and slim, with a circumference of about 4 inches at the widest part, and flexible. When this is inserted, the external part – which is more rigid – rests against the clitoris. Both vibrate. The Lavish Attention has 3 constant vibration speeds and 7 patterns. It’s USB rechargeable, waterproof, travel-lockable, and comes with a handy – and stylish – purple storage bag.

I wasn’t sure I would enjoy this toy, as dual-stim toys often aren’t very effective for me, but I like to broaden my horizons and expand my preferences. However, I found the shape and size of the Lavish Attention perfect to comfortably stimulate both my G-spot and clitoris without much weird maneuvering required.

Unusually, I also enjoyed the vibration patterns on this toy. I think having internal stimulation slightly changes how my clitoris responds to things, though I am still figuring out exactly how this works. There are some caveats – read on for those! – but I’m happy to recommend the Lavish Attention as a solid quality toy.

My Ratings (all scores out of 5★)

Price: ★★★
This toy retails at Lovehoney – currently the exclusive carrier! – for £59.99 ($69.99 US). This puts it squarely into the mid-price bracket. You can often get heavy discounts if you buy two or more products from the same range. I also note that Lovehoney have a stellar returns policy.

Materials: ★★★★★
The Lavish Attention is made of premium quality matte silicone and feels absolutely gorgeous. It’s the kind of toy you just want to stroke because it feels so lovely.

Appearance: ★★★★
One of the big plus points for the whole Freed range, for me, is how pretty they are. They’re all the same plum silicone with rose gold accents. The look is stylish, sensual and sexy as fuck. If it didn’t have the Fifty Shades logo emblazoned upon it, it would be the perfect aesthetic for a sex toy in my opinion.

Ease of Use: ★★★
I generally find dual-stim vibes take some practice and some experimentation to find the best position to use them. This was no exception. I also found it slightly awkward to hold due to the positioning of the handle. It is nice and light, which is a big plus and particularly relevant for anyone who struggles to hold heavier toys due to disability or injury. My biggest gripe is that you can’t turn the speed and pattern settings down – if you want to get back to the previous setting, you have to cycle alllllll the way back through.

Ease of care & cleaning: ★★★★★
You can clean the Lavish Attention, as with any silicone toy, with a sterile body-safe wipe. These are available cheaply in bulk from medical suppliers. This toy is completely waterproof which means you can submerge it to clean. The internal piece can easily be covered with a condom, but it’s not so easy to use with a barrier externally.

Versatility: ★★★
The Lavish Attention has 3 speeds and 7 patterns, making it nice and versatile whichever you prefer. One feature I would have liked would be the option to control the internal and external vibrations independently of each other. The shape makes it safe for anal use, and I imagine the external stimulator could feel really nice against the perineum during anal play if that’s your jam. It is fully waterproof, so safe for bathtime play.

Intensity:
★★★
As ever, please remember I am the biggest Power Queen who ever Power Queened. The vibrations were adequate and got me off, but nothing spectacular. The vibration quality is a little buzzy.

Overall Score: ★★★
A reasonably solid if imperfect dual-stim toy which I enjoyed using. I’ve marked it up for being body-safe, fully waterproof, gorgeous looking and relatively quiet. It loses points, though, for the mediocre power and for the lack of dual controls for the two motors.

I don’t recommend this toy to lovers of girth – it’s definitely slimline – or those who like their vibrations powerful very powerful or rumbly.

Lovehoney sent me the Lavish Attention vibrator in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affects my opinions which are, and will always be, entirely my own. [Toy Review] The Rabbit Company “Come Hither” Rabbit

The “Rabbit,” first popularised by Sex & the City, is arguably the most iconic sex toy ever. And until a few nights ago, I’d never tried one. I saw the monstrosities available in Ann Summers (back before I realised Ann Summers are trash and vowed never to shop there) and they just didn’t appeal to me at all. They were too big, too garish-looking, and didn’t seem like they’d provide anything meaningful in the way of clitoral stimulation.

The Rabbit Company, though, have changed all that. After two years of research and development, they’ve created a line of rabbit-style toys that are high quality, body-safe and a joy to use.

So how was it?

Something you should know about me is that I don’t often go for clitoral and G-spot stimulation at the same time. It does work for me occasionally, but it has to be done exactly right and I have to be in the mood for it. My cunt is a fickle creature. This is another reason I’ve never been particularly drawn to a Rabbit toy before.

It was the “come hither” motion that gave the model its name, combined with the impressive vibration power in the ears, that led me to this one. And ohhh my. It moves against the G-spot in a way that somewhat mimics how I like to be fingered, and the different speed settings mean you can ramp it up or down to suit. The vibrating ears also have six different patterns, each of which can be increased or reduced in intensity. It’s not super girthy and the insertable length is about 4 inches. The Come Hither Rabbit is rechargeable via USB cable (included, though the adapter is not.)

With a generous smear of water-based lube on both the shaft and ears, the Come Hither Rabbit slid into me smoothly and the ears fit comfortably around my clit. It took a little playing to get it into exactly the right position, and I’m sure the “right” angle of penetration and positioning of the ears and whiskers will vary for everyone, but the silicone has some flex so can be maneuvered into position.

I came really fast with the Come Hither Rabbit. Even factoring in for the few days of build up (I was sick for a few days and didn’t feel like wanking) and the excellent porn I found, this still got me off in under 5 minutes, which is pretty incredible by my body’s usual standards. The orgasm was intense, long, and incredibly satisfying as a result of stemming from both clitoral and g-spot situation.

It’s official: I’m a Rabbit convert.

My Ratings (all scores out of 5★)

Price: ★★★
The Come Hither Rabbit retails for $159.99 at SheVibe and $169 at or Peepshow Toys. Yes, it’s an expensive toy. However, I’m going to put my opinion out there and say it’s worth the investment – though I wouldn’t recommend it unless you know dual stimulation toys work for you. The quality is stellar. All Rabbit Company toys come with a 5 year warranty as standard, too.

Materials: ★★★★★
The Come Hither Rabbit is seam-free, high quality silicone and it’s just so very soft. |It is also body-safe, non-porous and hypoallergenic.

Appearance: ★★★★
It’s a pretty standard toy design, but I really like the bright purple colour. The adorable little ears and whiskers also make me giggle.

Ease of Use: ★★★★
It has one simple control panel – the on/off button, the up/down speed control buttons, and the centre button to cycle through the different vibration patterns. This toy is easy to hold and not too heavy, either. It’s likely to take a little practice to position the Come Hither Rabbit correctly for your body’s preferences, but I found it easy to keep in the desired position once I’d found it.

Ease of care & cleaning: ★★★
Its smooth shape and seam-free silicone make the Come Hither Rabbit easy to clean with a sterile wipe or warm water and soap. The whiskers are a little more fiddly to clean so take extra care in that area.

The Come Hither Rabbit is not waterproof, though it is splash-proof. Be careful if cleaning it with soap and water and don’t submerge it. The shaft can be covered with a condom for safe penetration, though it would be difficult (not impossible – you could use a dam or some cling-wrap) to use a barrier for the ears part. Therefore, either be super fastidious with cleaning or don’t share it with a non fluid-bonded partner.

Versatility: ★★★
Multiple intensity levels and six vibration patterns make the Come Hither Rabbit somewhat versatile. It’s definitely an “internal and external at the same time” toy – you can’t readily use just the clitoral part or just the internal part without the other.

Intensity: ★★★★
Yes. Yessssss. This beauty has lovely, intense vibrations that got me off hard in record time.

I repeat: yesssssss.

Overall Score: ★★★★

Downsides: despite the advertising, this toy is definitely NOT “whisper-quiet.” The “come hither” motion makes a moderately loud and very distinct noise which can best be described as a whine. It’s not waterproof, if you care about such things. It’s not the easiest to clean.

Upsides: The intensity of the vibration and the perfection of the G-spot stim was what clinched it for me. Definitely a winner.

[Toy Review] The Rock Chick

[Edit 02/03/2022: this product has been discontinued but I’ve left the review up for informational purposes.]

I’ve been wanting to try the Rock Chick for a long time and I really wanted to love it as it’s such a neat design (and also made by Rocks Off, known amongst other creations for the Ruby Glow.)

Stats & Things

The Rock Chick is a C-shaped, “2-in-1” toy, one end a g-spot dildo and the other a ribbed end supposed to sit against the clitoris while the dildo end is inserted. It’s powered by a removable vibrating bullet and has 7 settings – 3 speeds of constant vibration and 4 patterns.

Size-wise, the insertable length is about 4 inches and the girth is about 1.3″. Not one for size queens, but a good length and with a curve for g-spot stimulation.

My experience…

The Rock Chick is supposed to be “hands free,” but it didn’t work for me that way. I had to hold the clitoral end against my body to get anything out of the vibrations (if you can call them that) when I was lying on my back. A position that sort of worked was lying on my front with a pillow beneath my hips, my body weight effectively pinning the toy in place, and grinding against it.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t orgasm from this toy, even with a few days of built-up arousal and some damn good porn in front of me. The vibrations, weak anyway and further dampened by the thick silicone, weren’t strong enough. The shape and angle of the toy was all wrong, meaning that to get any meaningful clitoral contact the damn thing was poking me in the cervix. I can believe there are bodies it would work for, but a toy that only works for a tiny and specific subsection of bodies is a poorly designed toy.

I threw this one in a drawer in disgust and I don’t think it’ll come out again.

My Ratings (all scores out of 5★)

Price: ★★
The Rock Chick retails for $44.99 at SheVibe, which puts it pretty squarely into the bottom of the mid-range, which is about right. I wouldn’t mind the price if the toy was more effective but, as you will see, I think it’s overpriced for what is essentially a dildo powered by a weak bullet vibe.

Materials: ★★★★★
The main body is soft and flexible silicone, which I can’t fault. It’s body safe and feels lovely. The removable bullet is hard ABS plastic, which is also body safe.

Appearance: ★★★
It comes in purple (yay!) and pink (meh,) so pretty standard colours for sex toys for people with vulvas. It’s nothing special but it’s… fine.

Ease of Use:
Mmm, unfortunately this is where this toy really falls down for me. The “hands free” idea is cool but sadly it just doesn’t work   (for my body. Yur mileage may vary.)

The insertable end had to go too deep, painfully so, in order to get the clitoral stimulator into the right position. Of course, it’s impossible for a toy to fit every body perfectly. I needed to hold the toy in place and even then it only took things from “ow” to “meh.”

The Rock Chick’s various settings are operated with single button located on the end of the external arm, and the button is a little difficult to press.

Ease of care & cleaning: ★★★
The shape and smooth silicone mean it’s easy to clean the Rock Chick with a sterile wipe. It’s also waterproof, so you can clean it thoroughly in hot water. The bullet is removeable, so you can take it out and clean it separately. The embossed letters on the side do make for a bit of a bacteria trap, so please be extra thorough when cleaning that area if any body fluids get in there. You could put a condom over the insertable end for extra safety or when sharing.

Versatility: ★★★
The Rock Chick has 7 different settings, making it versatile whether you like constant vibrations or patterns. You could also remove the bullet and use it separately, if you like. It’s a little stronger this way, though still weak and buzzy. The Rock Chick a waterproof toy, so you can play with it in the bath or shower. The shape means the insertable end would be suitable for anal use with no risk of getting stuck.

Intensity:
Just too weak, unfortunately. When I removed the bullet it felt nice and strong in my hand, though moderately buzzy, but the padding of the silicone dampened it to the point that it couldn’t get me off. Disappointing. For someone who is into much gentler vibrations, it might work.

Overall Score: ★★
Though it has some small positive points, overall I found the Rock Chick to be poorly designed and not enjoyable to use. The badly thought through shape and the weakness of the vibrations really killed it for me. Spend your money elsewhere – this product is too much of a gamble when it will probably only work for a small number of people.

Buy a decent clitoral vibrator and a basic dildo instead.
