[Nightwear Review] Lovehoney Dark Orchid Robe

[Update 10/05/24: this product has been discontinued. I have removed dead links but left the post up for reference.]

Valentine’s Day is coming up, which means it’s the time of year when I start receiving shipments of lovely seasonal products to try for you all. This year I thought I’d throw a little sexy loungewear/nightwear into the mix along with my traditional lingerie reviews. So today we’re looking at the rather lovely Dark Orchid Robe, a navy satin and lace robe from Lovehoney’s Valentine’s Day collection.

Dark Orchid Robe: Style and Aesthetics

Dark Orchid is one of Lovehoney’s 2022 seasonal lingerie lines and includes a robe, a chemise, and a teddy. I’m also going to be reviewing the teddy (WHY are they called that!?) next week.

The Dark Orchid Robe is made of midnight blue satin (polyester/elastane) with black eyelash lace (polyamide/polyester) sleeves and trim. The colour is gorgeous, really rich and deep, and close-up you can see that there’s matching blue edging around the flowers in the lace parts. I didn’t notice this on the product photos, and it’s a really pretty touch that helps tie the whole piece’s look together.

Due to the nature of the fabric, it looks pretty crumpled when it first arrives. Just hang it for a day or two and the creases will drop out naturally.

It’s something I’d wear after sex to keep the chill off when I’m not ready to get dressed, or as I run down to the kitchen to make post-sex coffee. I can also see myself wearing it towards the end of a night out at a sex party or club, when I’ve shed my corset but I still want to look hot while being comfy and cosy.

It’s pretty enough to wear on its own but also works well paired with other lingerie styles in complementing colours.

My one design complaint? I wish it had pockets!

Fit and Comfort

The Dark Orchid Robe comes in 3 sizes, to fit anyone from a UK6 up to a UK30. Honestly, though, given the nature of this item and how it’s worn, I suspect it’d also work for a size or two either side of this range at least. I received the size 8-16 and it fit my size 12 frame comfortably and with tonnes of room to spare.

Length-wise, it reaches to mid thigh on me. I’m average height but if you’re tall, this robe might look very short on you! (Not necessarily a problem. Just something to be aware of).

The Dark Orchid Robe fastens with a belt around the middle, making it easy to customise how tightly or loosely you want to wear it. There’s also a hidden inner tie that you can use to help make sure it stays closed. The fabric is ultra soft and silky, which feels luxurious against my skin. Even the lace is pretty soft (which is vital for me as someone with fabric sensory issues). The whole garment is also very lightweight and easy to wear.

The Dark Orchid Robe isn’t particularly warm, given that it’s short and made of such light fabrics. So it’s not going to be replacing my thick, fuzzy winter robe any time soon! With that said, it’s ideal for summer when I want something to throw on over my PJs that isn’t going to make me feel too hot. I can certainly see myself lounging around in it on summer evenings at home.

Verdict

The Dark Orchid Robe is hanging on the back of my bedroom door (I wish it came with a hanging loop to make it easier to keep on the door peg) because I just know it’s going to be something I wear regularly.

This one is a resounding yes from me. Beautiful and comfortable too – just gorgeous!

The Dark Orchid Robe retails for £39.99 ($49.99 US).

Thanks to Lovehoney for sending me the Dark Orchid Robe and several other lovely Valentine’s Day products to review. All thoughts and images are, as always, my own.

[Lingerie Review] Fifty Shades of Grey Captivate Black Flocked Mesh Harness Body

[Update 10/05/24: this product has been discontinued. I have removed dead links but left the post up for reference.]

Today’s review is of another offering from Lovehoney’s Captivate Fifty Shades of Grey lingerie and sex toys collection. This line has put out some real hits and a few (for me) misses, so I was excited to try one of the newest pieces in the range. Let’s take a closer look at the Captivate Mesh Harness Body…

Captivate Black Flocked Mesh Harness Body: Details and First Impressions

The Captivate Mesh Harness Body is actually a two-piece set, featuring a slip-on one-piece body and an elasticated harness. Though designed to be worn together, you could easily wear them separately. You could also mix and match, as the harness would pair well with many bodysuits, basques, or bra-and-knickers sets.

The sheer body is made of a semi see-through mesh with a flocked patterned section on either side of the deep V neck. It’s made of a blend of polyester, nylon, and elastane, with a 100% cotton gusset (much healther for your vagina!) It closes behind the neck in a halterneck style, and is backless from the waist up.

The accompanying harness is made up of thick black straps (a nylon/elastane blend) with gold coloured fastenings and adornments. It fastens around your neck in a collar style, and has a central strap running down the centre of your body and between your breasts. Three narrower bands form a waist-accentuating belt, and then lead down to garter-style thigh straps.

When I took the Captivate Harness Body out of its packaging, I had two initial thoughts. The first was “oh, this is pretty!” The second was “how the hell am I going to get into this thing?” There are a lot of straps and fastenings!

Fetish-Inspired Glam

The Captivate Harness Body clearly draws inspiration from some of the common aesthetics of BDSM. Interestingly, it does not strike me as something that the demure, inexperienced, and not-actually-into-BDSM Fifty Shades heroine Anastasia would wear (disclaimer: I only read the first book, so maybe the Ana of later in the series would…?)

The black strapping and O-rings make a strong statement and elevate this piece from a pretty but fairly generic body to a bold BDSM-inspired look. Lovehoney’s model holds matching floggers and is standing in a pose that suggests Femdom to me, but this outfit definitely speaks to my submissive heart. Perhaps it’s the collar neck or the way the straps feel a little like being in a gentle variation of bondage? These things only carry the meaning we give them, of course, so your mileage may vary.

I love the shape of this set when I wear both pieces together. The harness’s waistband creates a beautiful silhouette and the deep V-neck is great for those of us with a lot of cleavage. The patterned mesh is also utterly gorgeous (and, hilariously, reminds me of the wallpaper in my favourite fetish venue…)

Fit and Comfort

The bodysuit part of this set is a breeze to get into. Just step in and secure the halterneck as tight as you’d like it. If you have large boobs, like me, I recommend doing it up a little tighter to help keep them inside the suit! The harness is a little trickier. This does require some patience and to make sure everything is in the right place. I recommend fastening the waistband in front of your body first. Spin it around so the closure is at the back, do the collar next, then finally the legs.

The body is somewhat stretchy, and the halterneck part is adjustable. I ordered a medium, and it fits my size 10/12 body well. The harness is extremely adjustable in pretty much all the places, so you should be able to get a good fit with a bit of tweaking. Once you’ve got it sorted, putting it on the next time is much easier as most of the adjustments stay put when you take it off. This set is available in sizes from UK 6 up to UK 28.

The Captivate Harness Body set is free from wires and the material is lovely and soft, making it comfortable enough to wear all night. I also really appreciate the fact that it offers proper butt coverage and is not a thong!

The only downside is a minor one, and it’s that the three straps of the waistband tend to bunch together and twist. This means I have to manually untangle and adjust them every so often. Shortening the straps that connect the waistband to the leg garters helps, but does not entirely mitigate this problem.

Verdict

Absolutely gorgeous! The Captivate Harness Body set has grown on me the more I’ve worn it. It’s the kind of thing I’d wear to a night at the dungeon or a party with some likeminded kinky friends. My play partner has also expressed a fondness for this one, so I expect it might be getting an outing sometime soon…

The Captivate Mesh Harness Body set retails for £44.99 ($54.99 US).

[Lingerie Review] Fifty Shades of Grey Captivate Wine Chiffon Plunge Body

[Update 10/05/24: this product has been discontinued. I have removed dead links but left the post up for reference.]

It will never cease to amaze me that there exists, out there in the world, an actual published book that contains this line describing a pair of knickers:

“Wow, they feel… slinky… and kind of hot… yeah.”

– Fifty Shades Darker

Further, it will never cease to amaze me that the book containing the above line, and the rest of its series, have collectively made hundreds of millions of dollars.

Still, despite its problematic messaging and dubious writing, the Fifty Shades of Grey series remains ridiculously popular, and new additions to the official Fifty Shades sex toys and lingerie ranges continue to appear. I recently received the Captivate Wine Chiffon Plunge Body from Lovehoney’s Fifty Shades Christmas lingerie collection to try.

Fifty Shades of Grey Captivate Wine Chiffon Plunge Body: First Impressions

The Captivate Wine Chiffon Plunge Body is a beautiful rich red one-piece. The bottom half is pretty floral lace, then it nips in with an elasticated waist (adorned with a gold Fifty Shades charm) and the top half is ultra soft and floaty semi-sheer chiffon. It ties in a halter-neck style at the nape of the neck, and features poppers at the crotch for easy opening and closing.

The fabric is a polyester/polyamide/elastane blend, but the gusset is 100% cotton. This is good news for us folks with vaginas, as wearing manmade fibres in that area can cause issues such as yeast infections, urinary tract infections, and and other vaginal problems. (Source).

I’m immediately in love with the gorgeous colour and the softness of the fabric. Even before I wriggled into it, I had a feeling this one was going to be a hit.

Comfort and Fit

The Captivate Wine Chiffon Plunge Body is unwired and easy to put on. Simply step in, pull it up, and tie it as tightly or loosely as you like. If tying things behind your neck is tricky or impossible for you, you might need someone else to help with this one. Pro tip: if, like me, you’re large busted, tying it slightly tighter will help your boobs to stay inside the garment instead of popping out!

Lovehoney’s advertising copy sells this as “comfortable enough to sleep in”. While I think that’s really overselling it (no-one is actually sleeping in this thing, surely?) it is pretty damn comfortable. The soft fabric is pleasant to wear, the waistband isn’t too tight, and it doesn’t have any wires or scratchy parts.

I received the Captivate Wine Chiffon Plunge Body in a medium, which fits my size 10/12 frame well. It’s available in all sizes from UK 6 to 28 and other reviews likewise indicate that it runs true to size on most people.

As it’s unwired and not tightly fitted, the Captivate Wine Chiffon Plunge Body doesn’t offer much in the way of lift. That’s a definite plus for me (my boobs prefer to be free!) But it’s something to bear in mind if you prefer more structured and supportive pieces.

Fifty Shades of Hot?

(I’m sorry, y’all. Truly).

This piece is absolutely dreamy for me. I love almost everything – the cut, the colour, the fit, the fabric. The contrast between the figure-hugging bottom half and the looser top half is ideal for me (I love my butt and waist and am less confident about my large boobs). The floaty, drapey chiffon gives a fun and flirtatious look, and the lace is glamorously feminine.

Verdict

This is my favourite new piece of lingerie I’ve received in a long time. It’s such a fabulous colour and makes me look and feel gorgeously femme. Though it’ll look great all year round, the red is particularly suited to the festive season.

It also arrives packaged in a branded Fifty Shades bag, which is great for gifting (watch out for this one appearing in my Christmas Gift Guide this weekend!)

The Captivate Wine Chiffon Plunge Body retails for £44.99 ($54.99 US).

[Lingerie Review] Lovehoney Twilight Rose Black Lace Waspie

[Update 10/05/24: this product has been discontinued. I have removed dead links but left the post up for reference.]

I’m extremely into corsetry, basques, and everything else in that general category of products. I love how they make my body – my waist, my boobs, my hips – look and how sexy I feel in them. Lovehoney kindly sent me the Black Lace Waspie from their new Twilight Rose Christmas lingerie collection.

In case you don’t know, a waspie is essentially a shorter under-bust corset. Obviously it varies slightly depending on your body, but on me, the top of the waspie hits an inch or so under my breasts.

Twilight Rose Black Lace Waspie: First Impressions

I took this one out of the packaging during a lingerie try-on session with Mr CK, the purpose of which was to choose an outfit for a party we were attending. When I saw the Twilight Rose Black Lace Waspie, the first thing I said was “this is something that 18-year-old goth Amy would have gone mad over!”

The Twilight Rose Black Lace Waspie is made of “microfibre”, in this case a synthetic blend of polyester and elastane, as well as mesh and lace, with ribbon trims. The microfibre parts feel soft to the touch, while the lace is a little coarser (though not problematically so, at least for my skin). Its structure is supported by six plastic bones. It is adorned with a wide band around the waist, red and black lace panels, and red ribbon detailing as well as a little gold Lovehoney heart. It comes with four removeable suspenders so you can wear stockings with it if you wish.

The Waspie closes with a row of hook-and-eye clasps down the back. Pro tip: put it on backwards and then spin it around once you’ve fastened all the hooks (or ask someone else to do it up for you).

Fit

The Twilight Rose Black Lace Waspie is available for UK sizes 6-24. I received the medium (UK 10-12) which is usually a good fit for me. However, the Waspie was actually just a little small when fastened on the loosest setting. It closed, but it looked and felt slightly too tight.

I’m trying to lose a few pounds at the moment and I think when I’m done, the Waspie will fit beautifully. But if you’re thinking of getting one of these and you’re between sizes or unsure, I’d suggest sizing up for this one.

The plastic boning gives the piece structure and holds it in place, while being less rigid and constricting than the steel bones found in true corsetry. Plastic boned pieces are a good in-between if you want a garment that offers gentle support and shaping, but also enjoy being able to breathe and sit down!

The main thing I’m not sure about is the lace trim at the top, which is 1.5″ wide. On the model pictures, this sits neatly against the skin. On me, though, it tended to bunch up and roll down in a way that I found distracting. If I’m going to wear something, I don’t want to be adjusting it all night.

Aesthetic and Sex Appeal

I do like this piece, overall, despite the slight issue with how it sits on me. The black and red colour combination is a winner, the lace and ribbon detailing is pretty in a goth-femme sort of way, and I like the way the wide band nips in my waist.

Interestingly, wearing the Twilight Rose Black Lace Waspie feels a little like stepping back into an earlier version of myself. I’ve moved away from goth style in recent years, not because I no longer love it but simply because I am older and tireder and have more sensory issues that tend to nudge me towards greater comfort. Wearing something I’d have swooned over 10 or 15 years ago is bringing back some memories and reminding me what I loved about those fashions in the first place.

I doubt I’d wear the Twilight Rose Black Lace Waspie by itself, because I don’t like how my naked breasts look over underbust corsets. I’d likely pair it with a floaty shirt, a suitable bra, or even an unwired bodysuit to give the whole ensemble more shape and structure. It’s quite a versatile piece and works just as well as the centrepiece of an outfit as it does as lingerie.

I think I might be wearing it when I go to The Rocky Horror Show with part of my polycule in a few months’ time…

Twilight Rose Black Lace Waspie: Verdict

The Twilight Rose Black Lace Waspie is a pretty and well-made basque that can function as underwear or outerwear. While the slight issue with the fit and lace trim means I doubt I’ll be wearing it frequently, it’s fun for when I want to let Goth Amy Circa 2008 out to play.

The Twilight Rose Black Lace Waspie retails for a great-value £29.99 ($36.99).

[Fetishwear Review] Lovehoney Fierce Diva Faux Leather Bustier Set

[Update 10/05/24: this product has been discontinued. I have removed dead links but left the post up for reference.]

Sometimes, I know that an item is going to be a YES for me the moment I take it out of the packaging. The Diva Faux Leather Bustier Set from the Lovehoney Fierce range was one such piece.

Details and First Impressions

The Fierce Diva Faux Leather Bustier Set comes with two pieces: the bustier and a pair of crotchless thong knickers. As with the other Fierce pieces I’ve tried recently, I was immediately impressed by the shiny wet-look material. These pieces are a great alternative if you don’t like the animal origins (or price tag) of leather, or the care and complexity (or sometimes price tag) of latex!

The Fierce Diva Faux Leather Bustier is plastic-boned for light structuring, and has a plunging neckline with lace-up detail. It’s adorned with a floaty lace “skirt” and matching floral lace detail on the bodice. It comes with removable suspenders, so you can wear it by itself or pair it with some sexy stockings. The back piece is semi-transparent mesh, designed to show just a hint of the skin underneath.

The Fierce Diva Faux Leather Bustier is just really, really my style. The soft fetish aesthetic of the black faux leather and structured shape, combined with the flirty and femme lace detailing, is exactly my jam. I think it looks sexy as hell, don’t you?

Fit and Comfort

The Fierce Diva Faux Leather Bustier fastens with a row of hooks and eyes up the back. The easiest way to get it on is to put it on backwards and fasten these at the front, then twist it around and pull the shoulder straps up last. (You could also theoretically pull it on over your head, but be careful not to snag the soft mesh or lace if you do that!)

It’s fairly comfortable to wear, as the fabric is soft and the mesh at the back increases the breathability. Definitely a less hot and sweaty option than actual leather!

This bustier set is available in sizes small (UK 6-8) up to 5x (UK 26-28). I wear a size 10/12, and the medium fits me well. The hook and eye fastenings offer three different size options, and the material is quite stretchy, so it will accommodate different bodies within that size range well. The shoulder straps are also adjustable.

Fierce is probably the most big-boob-friendly range Lovehoney have done yet. The Fierce Diva Faux Leather Bustier contains my G-cup chest easily, and enhances my cleavage without making me feel as though I’m about to fall out of it. With no wires and adjustable lacing, this bustier will accommodate a wide range of breast sizes.

The accompanying knickers? Honestly, I just don’t think I like either thongs or crotchless underwear very much. They’re not made for people with pubic hair or for people who don’t like fishing a string out of their butt crack all night long. I’ll probably never wear them again, if I’m honest. Instead, I’ll team the bustier with either some lacy knickers for a night in, or a pair of faux leather trousers and some high boots for a night out.

Versatile and Sexy

The Fierce Diva Faux Leather Bustier sits in that middle ground between clothing and lingerie where it could feasibly be either. I’d wear this in the bedroom with my partner or to a play party, but I’d also wear it for an alternative club night or even as a more risqué Halloween costume.

Just absolutely beautiful. I’m going to get a lot of wear out of this one.

The Fierce Diva Faux Leather Bustier Set retails for £59.99 ($74.99 US).

[Lingerie Review] Lovehoney Mindful Plum Lace Bra Set

[Update 11/03/24: this set has been discontinued but I have left the post up for reference.]

I’ve tried a couple of different things from the Lovehoney Mindful range of eco-conscious lingerie at this point, and been really impressed by them. So I was very excited to see there was a new selection out in my favourite colour: purple! Today, I’m trying out the Lovehoney Mindful Plum Lace Bra Set.

Mindfully Glamorous

The Mindful lingerie collection is all made of recycled pre-consumer materials, reusing things that would otherwise end up in landfill. Presented in a biodegradable cornstarch bag and with a recyclable cardboard tag, you can feel good about the sustainability credentials when you buy Mindful.

The Mindful Plum Lace Bra Set is a two-piece in a gorgeous, rich shade of plum purple. It is made primarily of polyamide lace and features wide, stretchy under-bust and waist bands adorned with the Lovehoney heart insignia.

The knickers have a little cutout detail at the back, and the bra features a cleavage-displaying peephole in the centre.

Upon taking the Mindful Plum Lace Bra Set out of its packaging, my femme soul was immediately drawn to the colour and pretty floral design of the lace. The set appears sturdy and well-made, a few stray threads that I had to deal with notwithstanding.

So far, so good. How did things go once I put it on?

Fit and Comfort

The Mindful Plum Lace Bra Set comes in 5 different sizes, designed to fit anyone from a size 8 to a size 26 (UK). I received the M/L and it fit my size 12 form beautifully.

The Mindful range seems to run true to size, insofar as women’s clothing sizes have any kind of consistency. I’d recommend going a size up if you’re on the cusp between sizes, but otherwise you can order your usual dress size with confidence.

The bra provides very gentle support, much as you’d expect from a soft non-wired bra or bralette. With a traditional clasp with three tightness settings and slider straps, you can adjust the fit for your unique body. There’s also a clip that allows you to turn the straps into a racerback style. I like wearing it this way as I find it provides slightly more support than the straight strap style.

The bra cups fit better than I expected they would, but are really just barely big enough for my G-cup breasts. I wouldn’t recommend this set if your bust is any larger. Overall it’s probably a better fit for those who have slightly smaller breasts. But with a few clever adjustments and some positioning, I did manage to find a comfortable and boob-containing way to wear it. Unlike some bralette styles I’ve tried, I don’t feel like I’m going to fall out of it every time I breathe!

The knickers from the Mindful Plum Lace Bra Set are comfortable enough to wear all day. The high-waisted, full brief design makes a nice change from the thongs that so often come with lingerie sets. (Fuck thongs, amirite?) The lace is soft and non-scratchy, and the wide waistband provides extra comfort. They also have a vagina-friendly 100% cotton panel in the gusset, mitigating the risk of thrush and other problems that can arise from wearing man-made fibres around your genitals.

Mindful Plum Lace Bra Set: Verdict

This is a really lovely little set. It’s versatile enough that I can see myself wearing the full set on a date or for a sexy night with my partner. But I can just as easily envision wearing the knickers all day long for a little extra femme joy under my regular clothing.

Comfy, conscious beauty. Colour me impressed!

The Mindful Plum Lace Bra Set retails for £32.99 ($39.99 US). and is also available in black with green detailing. You can get 10% off this and anything else you order with my Lovehoney discount code, “AFF-COFFKINK10”.

[Lingerie Review] Mindful Teal Lace Shorts

[Update 01/11/23: this product has been discontinued. I have removed dead links and kept the post up for reference.]

Sustainability and sensuality all in one? It’s a hell yes from me! Today I’m delighted to be reviewing one of the new pieces from Lovehoney’s Mindful range. You may remember the bodysuit I reviewed recently from the same line. Today we’ll be looking at the Mindful Teal Lace Shorts.

Mindful Booty Beauty!

The Mindful range is made from pre-consumer recycled materials, giving a new lease of life to fabrics that would otherwise end up in landfill. From the cornstarch bag to the recyclable tag, even the packaging for the Mindful range is eco-friendly. So you can feel good about every part of your purchase.

Mindful green lace shorts from Lovehoney lingerie

I received the Mindful Lace Shorts in a beautiful, rich shade of green. The elasticated waistband and edging detail is in a contrasting plum purple with little Lovehoney heart insignias along the waistband. Purple and green are two of my favourite colours and I particularly love them together in combination!

Lovehoney heart logo on green lace lingerie

The main body of these knickers is made of a pretty lace in a femme-pleasing floral pattern. The shorts also feature a cute triangular peephole cut out at the back. Overall, the aesthetic is striking and playful.

Fit and Comfort

The Mindful Lace Shorts come in five size options, fitting anyone from a size 8 to a size 26. I received size M/L, which is designed for a UK 12-14. I usually buy a size 12 in underwear at the moment, and these knickers fit me snugly but comfortably. If you’re between sizes and unsure which to get, I’d recommend going a size up.

I’m really glad to see this style of briefs in the Lovehoney store. I kind of hate thongs, if I’m honest. I can deal with them for sex appeal for a short amount of time, but they’re basically a sensory nightmare and I’d never choose them for all-day wear. But these slightly fuller, hipster-style pants are far more comfortable without sacrificing on style.

The lace is soft and feels high quality – not scratchy or irritating at all. I particularly appreciate the broad and stretchy waistband for the added comfort it affords.

They’re honestly comfy enough that I could wear them all day long.

I’m also pleased to see that the gusset is 100% cotton. Many synthetic fibres are not breathable and can trap moisture and odors. For people with vaginas, this can lead to problems like thrush and bacterial infections. So the cotton gusset is a welcome, vulva-friendly touch!

Final Thoughts

Comfortable enough to wear all day, cute enough to wear on a date, and environmentally friendly into the bargain? Tick, tick, and tick! Full marks for me for these playful, sexy pants.

The Mindful Teal Lace Shorts retail for £12.99 ($16.99 US). You can get a discount on this or any item by using code “AFF-COFFKINK10” at checkout.

[Lingerie Review] Lovehoney Hourglass Open-Cup Crotchless Body

If you’ve been reading my reviews for a while, you’ll know that my biggest complaint when it comes to lingerie is often that my G-cup boobs simply won’t fit in the garment properly. One of the ways around that problem? Open-cup lingerie! I recently received the Lovehoney Hourglass Open-Cup Crotchless Body to review. Did it live up to expectations? Let’s find out…

Lovehoney Hourglass Open-Cup Crotchless Body

The Lovehoney Hourglass Body is a one piece bodysuit made of black floral lace and microfibre. It features removeable straps, which frame your breasts as well as helping the garment stay up (though the top is elasticy enough that it stays up fairly well without them). It also features removeable suspender straps.

Lovehoney Open Cup Hourglass Body product photo
Image: Lovehoney (used with permission)

The Lovehoney Hourglass Body opens at the crotch and is adorned in the centre of the microfibre section with the Lovehoney heart insignia.

First impressions were positive. The piece looks well-made, the fabrics are soft and stretchy, and the aesthetic is sexy.

Fit and Comfort

The Lovehoney Hourglass Body is designed to be wearable either on its own or under clothing as “shapewear”. This means that comfort and fit are of paramount importance – this is something you could potentially wear all night under a dress, not just slip into for bedroom wear.

This piece is super comfy, as lingerie goes, as it’s pleasingly stretchy and feels super soft against the skin. The straps are fully adjustable, so you can set them to suit your body (or remove them entirely, if you prefer). I’m not much of a stockings person but if you are, thigh-highs and killer heels would be a great way to complete the look.

Fit wise, the Lovehoney Hourglass Body runs pretty true to size. I received a Medium and it fits my size 12 frame well. If you’re between sizes, I’d recommend going a size down rather than up, since this piece is stretchy and is supposed to cling snugly.

Since this piece is open cup, you don’t need to worry about cup sizes! (A godsend for people like me who are well-endowed in the chest department). You can easily wear it either by itself or with a bra.

The Lovehoney Hourglass Body is available for all sizes from UK6 to UK28.

Look and Wearability

(This section discussed body confidence and body image issues. Skip to the next header if that’s not something you want to engage with today!)

This is one of those pieces that I’ll wear again and again because it makes me feel confident and sexy as hell.

Despite striving to be body-positive and doing continual work on my self-image, there are still parts of my own body that I struggle with. Most notably, my stomach. So pieces that hide the bits of my body I’m less confident about, while emphasising the bits I do love (waist, boobs), are basically the holy grail of lingerie to me. I’m also really into the way the lace panels cling to the curve of my hips.

The look is a kind of femme soft-bondage, especially with the straps left on. It creates a sexy hourglass (hence the name) silhouette. The floral lace is pretty, and I really love the little diamond detailing around the edges.

Simply gorgeous!

Verdict

Yes – an absolute winner! If you’re looking for something to wear under your clothes and surprise your lover with, or just to feel fabulous in the bedoom (/sex club), look no further.

The Lovehoney Hourglass Open-Cup Crotchless Body retails for £32.99 ($39.99 US).

[Lingerie Review] Lovehoney Peony Lilac Sheer Mesh and Lace Crotchless Body

[Update 10/05/24: this item has been discontinued. I have removed dead links but left the post up for reference.]

I love purple and its variations, and I love femme things. Is it any wonder, then, that I spotted the Peony range at Lovehoney and knew I needed to try it? The range is available in both black and lilac. I received the Peony Sheer Mesh and Lace Crotchless Body in lilac.

Peony Crotchless Body: First Impressions and Aesthetic

The Peony Sheer Mesh and Lace Crotchless Body is actually really a cross between a bodysuit and a babydoll. It’s an all-in-one garment made of pretty floral lace and sheer mesh with spot detail.

When I took it out of the packaging, I was immediately impressed with the softness of the materials. Lovehoney lingerie tends to offer a good combination of affordable prices and quality materials, which I love.

The top part is a halterneck bodysuit with a deep neckline, plunging to the elasticated waistband which is adorned by a bow in the same organza as the halterneck and back tie. The half-covered crotch gives way to adjustable straps which sit at the point where butt meets upper thighs. A flyaway half skirt finishes the look.

The Peony Crotchless Body in lilac is a classically feminine look. My inner femme loves it! If you like the shape but pastels aren’t for you, the black version is sexy in a different way.

Comfort, Fit, and Boob Coverage

The Peony Crotchless Body comes in two sizes: one size standard (for UK sizes 8-16) and one size plus (for UK sizes 18-24.) Because it’s adjustable, this piece is fairly flexible in terms of sizing. You can tie the halterneck and back tie as tightly or loosely as you need. The leg straps are also adjustable.

I’m about a size 12 and I found the Peony Crotchless Body to be a comfortable fit in most areas. The one downside is the boob coverage. I’m not sure if it’s due to the halterneck design or tie fastenings, but I found that this piece offers significantly less coverage than some of the more traditional bodysuit items in my collection.

The Peony Crotchless Body contains my G-cups somewhat when I’m standing upright, but as soon as I lie down (or more around too much) they haven’t got a prayer.

I like the piece enough that I’ll probably still wear it occasionally anyway, but you should be aware of this. I’d speculate that anyone larger than about a D-cup might have this issue.

The Peony Crotchless Body is non-wired. That and the soft fabric makes it comfortable and enjoyable to wear.

Final Thoughts

A mixed verdict on this one. It’s pretty and fun in that flirty, feminine way I enjoy. It’s soft, comfortable, and fairly easy to take on and off. But the boob coverage (or lack thereof) was a significant downside for me.

Gorgeous, but maybe better suited to those with smaller chests than me.

[Lingerie Review] Lovehoney Moonflower Emerald Green Lace Strappy Body

Update 03/03/33: this piece has been discontinued.

I first spotted this piece when my partner sent me a link to this Instagram post. As soon as I saw the Moonflower Lace Strappy Body in emerald green from Lovehoney, I knew I had to own it! Happily, my friends at Lovehoney HQ were able to hook me up.

How did I get on with it in reality?

Moonflower Emerald Green Lace Strappy Body: Aesthetic

This one-piece bodysuit is made of lace and mesh in a gorgeous, vibrant shade of green. It is wire-free and features a plunging V-neck and criss-cross detailing at the front and back. It is nipped in at the waist with a broad ribbon accent, and features a popper opening at the crotch.

I really love how this piece looks. The colour is beautiful and unusual, making a change from the more common blacks, reds, and pinks of the lingerie world. The delicate floral lace is lovely, and the strappy detailing at the back is super sexy.

I love this type of shape on my body. I think my hourglass waist is pretty much my best feature, and this style shows that off. A plunging neckline will always be sexy, and the criss-cross straps across the cleavage add an eye-drawing touch.

Sex-appeal wise, this one scores top marks from me.

Fit and Comfort

I gravitate towards non-wired lingerie for two reasons: it’s far more comfortable (you will not convince me that anyone finds being poked in the ribs with a wire pleasant!) and it’s far more likely to actually fit me.

The Moonflower Lace Strappy Body is a one-size piece, which you’ll know by now I don’t love as a concept. People come in such a variety of shapes and sizes that the idea of “one size” is a little absurd to me. The Moonflower Lace Strappy Body is supposed to fit sizes 8-16. There’s also a plus-size version for sizes 18-24. (Side note: Lovehoney are killing it with their plus-size lingerie offerings at the moment!)

I’m currently a size 12-ish and I found the Moonflower Lace Strappy Body to be a pretty good fit. The fabric and waistband are somewhat stretchy, and both the shoulder straps and waistband can be adjusted using the sliders.

As is often the case with standard lingerie sizing, this piece only “sort of” contains my G-cup boobs. When I’m standing up or lying on my back, it’s fine, but as soon as I lie on my side or raise my hands above my head, they pop out. Not a big problem, but something to be aware of if you’re well endowed in the chest department.

The Moonflower Lace Strappy Body is made of super soft fabric that feels lovely to wear. This isn’t cheap, scratchy lace. It feels sensual and luxurious against the skin.

Verdict

The Moonflower Lace Strappy Body is a winner! It’s very hard to get one-size lingerie right, and inevitably it won’t work for all bodies. But overall this piece is pretty, sensual, comfortable, and flattering. Yes, yes, and yes!

I feel gorgeously femme in this piece and I can’t wait to show it off at a sexy party when we can go to those again.
