[Toy Review] Lovense Glint

This week, Lovense launched the Glint, a new vibrating butt plug with app control options, touch responsiveness, and more. I received an advance sample so I could tell you all about it as soon as it launches!

Lovense Glint: Details

The Lovense Glint is a black vibrating T-bar butt plug made of body-safe silicone. It measures 4″ in total length and around 3.5″ in insertable length. Its shaft is a petite 0.84″ in diameter.

The Glint is rechargeable, with a full charge taking around an hour and offering up to 3 hours runtime. It is also IPX 7 waterproof, i.e. fully submersible. This means you can use it in the bath or shower, if you like. It also makes it easy to clean.

As is customary for Lovense’s high-tech products, the Lovense Glint comes with various additional features. It connects to the Lovense Remote app (free to download on Android or iOS), which allows you to access an array of options including long distance control, unlimited custom vibration patterns, and syncing the toy to music. As part of the Lovense ecosystem, the Glint can pair with other Lovense toys through the app. It can also act as a “Master Controller” for any other Lovense toy. The more of the Glint’s base you press, the harder the connected toy will vibrate.

The Glint’s biggest unique selling point, though, is the touch-responsive base. The toy has three touch modes, all of which are activated by contact with the sensor in the toy’s base: Pulse (up to three rhythmic bursts), Sustain (vibrates for as long as contact lasts) and Crescendo, (a low baseline hum with an instant boost on touch.)

Then, of course, there’s the standard manual mode, which operates on a single button interface on the base of the toy and has three constant speeds and four patterns built in

What I Liked About the Lovense Glint

As you can see, there’s a lot going on here! But how did the Lovense Glint fare in use? Let’s start with what I liked about it.

  • I love the petite and slimline design of this plug. I’m rarely into large anal insertables, and girthy toys can be particularly challenging. Its size makes it non-intimidating for beginners, as well as a great option for those of us who just prefer our anal toys on the smaller size.
  • The rounded tip makes insertion comfortable and, since the shaft is uniform in girth all the way down, there’s no uncomfortable stretching.
  • The slim neck provides a secure yet comfortable fit, anchoring the plug securely once it’s in place.
  • The neck is also super flexible, which allows you to position and angle it in whatever way works best for your body.
  • The T-bar base sits parallel to the butt crack, which many people find more comfortable than the round base that’s common on many plugs.
  • Let’s talk about that motor! Lovense consistently uses excellent motors in its toys, and this one is no different. It’s strong with some satisfying mid-level rumbles.
  • It’s pretty quiet, even on the higher settings, topping out at under 38dB.
  • The touch-responsive mode is what really makes this one for me. It’s primarily designed to be worn by the receiver during partnered penetrative sex, with the touch-responsive motor activating every time their partner thrusts and makes contact with the sensor. But, of course, there are also so many other possibilities if you get a bit creative with it. Have your partner bent over for a spanking? Tease them between blows by touching the sensor at strategic moments. Giving hand sex? Graze your hand over the plug’s base on the downward stroke. Giving oral? Some well-timed buzzes can enhance pleasure even more. If you’re a curious data nerd, you can even use the Touch Record to save info such as touch count, speed, and duration, then save and replay patterns. This feature is off by default, and the data is stored locally on your device.

What I Disliked

I’m not a big fan of sex toy apps, and in practice I very rarely use them outside of testing them for review purposes (and I say that as someone in a long-distance relationship!) Like many Lovense products, my big complaint with this one is that it loses so much without the app. In particular, though the Glint’s touch mode has the three possible settings I mentioned above, you can only actually access one of them unless you use the app. It starts in Touch Mode by default, but the app is needed to switch between the Pulse, Sustain, and Crescendo settings.

Not everyone wants to use a sex toy app, for all kinds of reasons from privacy concerns to wanting to keep devices out of their bedroom during sex. There really should be a way to change the touch mode setting without needing to use the app. I know Lovense is a sex tech company and high tech toys are kinda its whole thing, but please give a little more thought to your analog users, too.

I’m also eternally annoyed, as ever, with the damn single button interface.

Lovense Glint Review: Verdict

With a great motor, a comfortable slim design, and that touch-responsive base, there’s a lot I like about the Lovense Glint. I’ll definitely get plenty of use out of it, and I think it’s one of the best vibrating butt plugs I’ve ever tried. I just really wish there was a way to get full functionality out of its main feature—the touch-responsiveness—without needing another app.

If you’re happy to use a toy app, I wholeheartedly recommend it. If, like me, you prefer toys with decent manual controls, you might find this one frustrating to use.
