5 Best Vibrators Under $45 (North American edition)

I did a UK edition of this post last week, so if you’re looking for the best vibrators on a budget in the UK, check that out. Because different products are available in different places, I thought two versions would make the most sense.

5 of the Best Vibrators Under $45

Let’s dive in. Here some five of the best vibrators you can get in North America for under $40 US. As with the UK edition, everything listed here is a product I’ve actually tried and actually love.

By the way: I picked $45 as the cut-off for the North American version of this post because $45 is around £33, so the actual price-points are very similar.

Lovehoney Humdinger, $29.99

Humdinger vibrator by Lovehoney. External vibe for clit play

It’s the innovative shape that really makes this one, for me. The motor is powerful and rumbly (surprisingly so for a battery-operated toy) and the combo of the clit-hugging hood shape and the hard nub on the back is close to perfection.

Blush Exposed Nocturnal, $33

Blush Exposed Nocturnal bullet vibe for clit play, one of the best vibrators under $45

Ever since I first tried it, I’ve been obsessed with this amazing little bullet vibrator from Blush. It’s massively powerful, rumbly, has amazing battery life, and never fails to get the job done quickly and reliably.

Noje Mini Wand, $35.99

Noje Mini Wand, one of the best vibrators under $45 in the US

This is the second Blush Novelties toy on this list for good reason. They just produce so many great products at affordable price points! This teeny tiny little wand is not only powerful and well-made, but also pretty af. I love the mint green colour!

Get it here.

Satisfyer Number 2, $40

Satisfyer Number 2 clitoral suction vibrator

This is a battery-powered version of Satisfyer’s best-selling clitoral suction stimulator, making it more affordable. It might be a more basic equivalent but it still features 11 suction intensity levels and a body-safe silicone nozzle.

(I know it’s not technically a vibrator but it still meets the spirit of this list!)

Get it here.

VeDo Izzy, $43

VeDo Izzy, one of the best vibrators under $45 in North America

Izzy by VeDo is a surprisingly powerful and surprisingly affordable clitoral vibe that I absolutely loved. It’s a fairly standard lay-on/pebble shape, but that nub at the top really elevates it for me. It’s amazing for both pinpoint and broader clitoral stimulation.

[Toy Review] Avant Pride P8 Bi Pride Dildo

What’s one of the best ways to show your pride? Through your sex toys, obviously! That’s why I’m thrilled to be bringing you another review from Blush’s Avant Pride range. Today we’re looking at the Pride P8 bi pride dildo, which was sent to me by my friends at The Pleasure Garden.

Avant Pride P8: Facts & Figures

The Avant Pride P8 is a hand-poured dildo in body-safe silicone made by the extraordinary Blush Novelties (they of the best bullet vibe in the world fame.) It’s part of the Avant Pride line of silicone toys in various pride flag colours. The P8 represents the bisexual pride flag: pink at the top, blue at the bottom, and a thinner stripe of purple in the middle.

Avant Pride P8 bisexual pride dildo

Now I want virtually every product imaginable in this colour scheme, partly because I’m bisexual as fuck but also just because it’s a really pretty combo. So obviously I’m enamoured with this dildo before I’ve even taken it out of the box. Interestingly, it looks super shiny in the product pic but the real version is definitely more matte, though no less beautiful.

The Avant Pride P8 came packaged in a clear-fronted box, enabling the buyer to see the exact size and shape for themselves. I do wish sex toy manufacturers would be a little more conscious of the amount of single-use plastic their packaging contains, but at least it’s the recyclable sort.

The Pride P8 offers 6.9″ (17.7cm) in insertable length, and just under 1.5″ (3.8cm) in girth. It is semi-realistic in shape, with a veined shaft leading to a lifelike pronounced head.

Water-based lube is recommended. You can clean your P8 with warm soapy water, or boil-sterilise for a more thorough clean.

Design and Feel

This thing is made of the softest silicone imaginable! Seriously, it feels absolutely lovely in my hand (and everywhere else). Just super silky, squishy and velvety. This toy is made of premium silicone in the truest sense of the word.

The Pride P8’s shaft is straight, but very flexible. It has tonnes of give which allows for comfortable insertion and thrusting, and it flexes with your body so you can angle it in the way that works for you. Honestly, if anything, I might have liked a little LESS flex. I occasionally found it hard to get the amount of G-spot pressure I prefer.

Avant Pride P8 bisexual pride sex toy in bi pride flag colors

With that said, the P8 still feels fantastic in use. The ridges provide gentle internal stimulation and the head is just the right size and shape for G-spotting. I’m likely to reach for this dildo when my body is craving something gentler and when my more rigid toys aren’t cutting it.

People who like girthier toys might find the Pride P8 too narrow for their tastes. Personally, I love a good slimline dick sometimes (too much girth can hurt) and the P8 is an ideal size.

Other Uses

The Avant Pride P8 comes with a super-strong suction cup base. That means you can attach it to any hard, flat surface and play hands-free, if that’s your jam. I don’t really play this way myself, but I like to test things for you folks like the good sex blogger I am. I am extremely impressed with the P8’s suction cup and how well it held. Nothing is dislodging it until you want to!

Bi flag sex toy from Avant Pride dildo range

This toy is also harness-compatible. You’ll need a 1.5″ O-ring to pair it with your favourite strap-on harness.

Finally, the Pride P8 is anal-safe, thanks to its flared base. The slim design might make it particularly good for those who are just exploring anal play and find thicker toys intimidating.

Verdict

The Avant Pride P8 is a simple yet stylish, effective, and versatile dildo. It’s comfortable to use and visually gorgeous. Best of all, it retails for an astonishingly affordable £29.99.

If you’re a bi babe (or ally) of any gender looking to show off your pride in dildo form, you’ve come to the right place.

Thanks to The Pleasure Garden for sending me this product to review! All views, as ever, are mine. By the way: while you’re there, check out my curated sex blogger favourites collection!

[Toy Review] Blush Impressions N1

I’m a big fan of Blush products. Not only do they make fun pride themed dildos and an excellent mini wand, they also make my favourite bullet vibe ever. For that reason, I was super excited to receive the Impressions N1 vibrating dildo to review.

First Impressions of the N1

(See what I did there?)

The Impressions N1 by Blush Novelties is a curvy vibrating dildo. Made of smooth and body-safe silicone in sleek black, it is 6.75″ in length 5.75″ insertable) and 1.5″ in diameter at the widest point.

Impressions N1 black silicone G-spot dildo

The N1 features a suction cup base and is USB rechargeable via the included magnetic cable. It’s also waterproof.

My Impressions N1 came packaged in a clear box that shows off the toy. I don’t love the amount of single-use plastic the packaging uses, but I do like that it allows the buyer to see the exact shape and size of the product.

Impressions N1 dildo by Blush Novelties black silicone vibrator

By the way: Blush products come with a 5 year warranty if you’re in the US or Canada. Sadly not for those of us in the UK.

A Multi-Purpose Toy

The Impressions N1 can be used in several ways: as a simple dildo, as a vibrator (internal or external), or with a harness for strap on play. Thanks to the flared base, it’s safe for anal as well as vaginal use.

As always, I recommend using water-based lube with your silicone toys for the best experience.

Shape and Design

The N1 has a gently curved design and a head with pronounced ridges. There is a seam in the silicone down the middle, but it’s subtle enough that it doesn’t really get in the way of the experience. Otherwise, the silicone is velvety smooth!

Impressions N1 black silicone strap-on dildo

The prominent head and ridges feel amazing against my G-spot. I absolutely love the shape and shaft design of the N1! It’s pretty flexible, particularly at the narrowest part of the shaft, for ease of insertion and manipulation. I’m a fan of smaller and moderate size dildos (large ones tend to hurt, or at least require a tonne of warm-up) and this one is the ideal length and width for my preferences.

By the way: the ridges and tapered tip feel wonderful against the clit, if external play is more your jam.

The suction cup is also seriously impressive. As I’m typing, it’s stuck to the wall next to me and it isn’t going anywhere! So if you want to stick it to the floor/wall/mirror/tub/ceiling (hey, I’m sure there are people who are into that!) for hands-free play, you can.

How are the Vibrations?

The Impressions N1 boasts 10 total vibration settings: 5 speeds and 5 patterns. If there’s one thing I love about Blush it’s that they use seriously good motors in their toys. The N1’s vibration settings

The vibrations are controlled via the simple two button interface located at the bottom of the shaft. The top button switches the toy on and off, while the bottom button scrolls through the patterns (no option to scroll through settings both ways, unfortunately.) My only complaint, and it is a small one, is that the buttons have fairly deep ridges that could harbour bacteria and are quite hard to clean.

Vibrator buttons on the Impressions N1 by Blush Novelties

The N1 is reasonably quiet for the level of power it offers. It passes the “can I hear it through a closed bedroom door?” test with flying colours.

Final Thoughts and Verdict

The Impressions N1 is an excellent, versatile toy. I’m happy to recommend it as a brilliant all-rounder. A well-designed shape, powerful motor, anal-safe and harness compatible, and

[Toy Review] Noje Magic Wand

The Noje Magic Wand was sent to me by Francesca at The Pleasure Garden, a wonderful feminist sex-shop with an inclusive, safety-first ethos.

The Noje Magic Wand mint green vibrator on a white sheet

So pretty!

Can we just take a second to acknowledge how pretty this colour is? In an endless sea of the same colours again and again, toys that do something surprising and different aesthetically are a big hit. I love this green, which I can’t decide if it’s mint or turquoise.

Important Bits & Bobs

The Noje Magic Wand vibrator is a teeny-tiny little thing. It is just 13cm in length, and fits completely in my (also very small) hand. It looks like a very miniature version of the classic wand vibrator shape, only with a curved handle. Weighing in at just 67g, the Noje is a great choice if heavier toys are difficult for you.

The Noje Magic Wand mint green vibrator in a womans hand

The body of the toy is ABS plastic and it has a silicone cap which fits over the head. This makes it 100% body-safe, non-porous and phthalate-free, so you can play safely. The silicone cap pops off and back on easily, so you can wash it thoroughly or even boil-sterilise if you wish. Water-based lube is safest and makes everything more fun!

The Noje Magic Wand is rechargeable via a magnetic cable (included,) and is fully waterproof. The Noje is brought to us by Blush Novelties, who make a bunch of other awesome products including my favourite bullet vibrator of all time. It retails for a very reasonable £39.99.

Packs a Punch!

Don’t let the small size fool you – this baby has some serious power behind it.

The Noje Magic Wand mint green vibrator on a black and white sheet

Blush consistently use incredibly good motors in their toys. (Again: that $32 bullet vibe!) The Noje Magic Wand is no exception. It has ten settings in total, five constant vibration speeds and five patterns. The lower levels start out with a deep rumble, building up to some impressive power at the higher speeds.

Of course, as this toy is so small you don’t get quite the same level of broad stimulation that you’d get with a full-size wand. However, if you’re after something a little less pinpoint than a bullet but still good and powerful, the Noje Magic Wand delivers.

Flexible Neck

I’m torn on the flexible neck design of this toy. On the one hand, it’s great because it means you can angle the toy precisely and get it exactly where you want it. The downside, though, is that many of us – me included – like to press a toy hard against our vulva, and the flex here makes it hard to do so.

It’s not really a concrete good or bad – it’s just a thing to be aware of. You know best whether it is likely to be a plus or minus for you.

Simple Interface

The Noje Magic Wand operates on a one-button interface, which sits in the base of the toy. You hold the button down to switch the toy on, press it to cycle through the patterns and speeds, and hold it down again to switch the toy off.

The Noje Magic Wand mint green vibrator in a womans hand

You may know that I’m not a huge fan of a one-button interface. I prefer to be able to scroll back through settings, rather than having to cycle all the way back through to go back to one I liked or dial it down a notch.

The button itself is in a sensible place, large enough to press easily, and makes a satisfying click.

Other Things of Note

The battery life of this toy is decent. I got about 90 minutes of play out of a full charge (which took around 2 hours.)

Noise-wise, the Noje Magic Wand is very quiet for the amount of power you get. On full power, I cannot hear it from outside my (closed) bedroom door. If a full-size wand is too noisy for your needs (perhaps you live with roommates or have kids asleep in the next room) this is a great choice.

One thing I did notice about this toy is that it tends to get very warm. The head started getting noticably hot after about ten minutes of continuous use. It wasn’t hot enough to hurt me or anything, and the toy continued functioning just fine, but I do worry about what consistent high level use might be doing to the motor if it heats up that quickly.

Overall: do I recommend it?

The Noje Magic Wand is a real winner! It packs a lot of power into a small, discreet and super-cute package. Yet another brilliant addition to Blush’s already very strong line-up.

[Toy Review] Ruse Jammy Silicone Dildo by Blush Novelties

Can we acknowledge for a second how much great stuff Blush Novelties have been coming out with lately? From the best bullet to come out in ages which is rivaling the famed Tango in popularity, to their brilliant and colourful ‘Pride‘ line, this New York City based company is really one to watch. They’re already doing brilliant things and I suspect they’ll do more. Plus, their philosophy is “that all bodies are beautiful, worthy, and deserving of celebration and pleasure”. Can’t argue with that!

This new offering, the Ruse Jammy silicone dildo, was sent to me by our pals at Peepshow Toys. Visit them for all your body-safe pleasure product needs!

A sizeable realistic offering!

The Ruse Jammy is definitely a dildo for size-lovers. It’s 7.5″ long with a full 2″ in girth. For reference, the average factory-installed penis is around 5.1″ long and 1.4″ wide when erect. This is a sizeable toy! I gulped when I first took it out, but I’m unafraid in my quest to put things in my vagina and write about it for you… even things that make me go “eek!” when I see them.

The Ruse Jammy is made of 100% silicone, and has a suction cup. This means you can attach it to a hard surface – a wall, floor, bath/shower screen – and it also means it’s harness-compatible (why not pair with this fab Blush harness-brief I tested recently?) and anal safe.

The Ruse Jammy is also realistic in design. It has a veiny shaft, a subtle natural curve and a pronounced coronal ridge and  head. There’s even realistic-looking skin texturing and a meatus. This is a very well-designed realistic style toy! Of course, if realistic colouring is your thing you’ll want to look elsewhere – the Ruse Jammy comes in purple or jet black rather than anything resembling a lifelike skin tone. The silicone has a lovely smooth, satiny finish which feels wonderful to the touch.

Body-safety and things

This is a 100% silicone toy which means it’s completely body-safe. The best way to sterilise your silicone toys is to pop them in a pot of boiling water or the top shelf of the dishwasher. In between uses, wash with warm water and gentle soap or use a body-safe sterile wipe.

The Ruse Jammy is condom-compatible, but given the size you’ll want to use large condoms. Water-based lube is, as ever, recommended for silicone toys.

So how did I get on?

I’m not a size Queen, friends. I’m just not. I sometimes enjoy larger things inside of me (fisting is fun!) but more often than not, an average sized cock or small/medium dildo is more than enough to keep me satisfied.

I also have to be careful with depth of penetration, because I have an IUD and anything touching my cervix is painful. So realistically, taking this dildo all the way inside me simply wasn’t going to happen. Even so, I decided to give it a good go and see how I got on!

I tried it with one of my partners during a play session. With plenty of lube, we managed to get about half the shaft inside me relatively comfortably. It gave me a nice full feeling which I did very much enjoy. Once I’d got used to it, my partner tried fucking me with it. This, unfortunately, very quickly led to “Ow! Ouch! No! Too much!”

For me, the best use for this toy is to let it just sit inside me while I do other things such as clitoral play. Thrusting with a toy of this size is not something I find pleasurable.

So do I recommend it?

To size lovers, yes. If you’ve played with smaller dildos and just found they weren’t quite enough for you, the Ruse Jammy is a great and affordable larger option. Considering some toys this size run to £100 or more, the $33 (about £26) for a large silicone toy of this quality is an absolute steal.

I don’t recommend this one for beginners, or those who don’t know they can take large penetrative toys comfortably. But I wholeheartedly endorse it for length/girth lovers and those looking for a realistic toy at an affordable price.

[Toy Review] Blush Novelties Exposed Nocturnal Lipstick Bullet Vibrator

It feels a bit sacrilegious to say this, but I think I’ve found a bullet vibrator I like more than the hallowed We-Vibe Tango. And it’s an unassuming little thing from Blush Novelties that retails at the shockingly reasonable price of $32 (about £24 for my Brit readers). Meet the Exposed Nocturnal “lipstick bullet,” sent to me by Peepshow Toys, excellent purveyors of body-safe toys for all budgets.

Details and Dimensions

The Exposed Nocturnal lipstick buillet vibratorThe Exposed Nocturnal bullet is 4″ long in total and has a dimension of 0.9″. It’s shaped, as the advertising copy implies, like a lipstick – a cylindrical body leading to a gently tapered tip with one flat edge. I really like this shape for clitoral vibrators, because it gives you so many options. You can use the tip, the flat edge or the whole shaft, depending on how pinpoint you like your vibrations.

The Exposed Nocturnal is waterproof, submersible, and USB-rechargeable. It comes in four colour-ways, three of which can be described as variations on “pink,” and the fourth (called “Sugar Plum”) is purple. The colours are sort of shimmery in quality, which is really attractive.

Functionality & Interface

The Exposed Nocturnal lipstick bullet vibrator. The Exposed Nocturnal bullet has a simple two-button user interface built into the base (which is also where the magnetic charging points are). You hold down the + button to switch on, use the + and – buttons to navigate the various settings, and hold down the – button to switch off.

This is one of the areas where this toy really comes out ahead of the Tango, as well as most of the lower priced toys on the market – you can cycle either way through the settings! Gone up a notch and decided it’s too intense? No worries, you can skip straight back down again without cycling all the way through.

My only real complaint, and it’s a minor one, is that the buttons and markings on them are so small that it can be hard to see which is which in low light. I would also have liked a travel lock, but you can’t have everything.

Body-Safe and Easy to Clean

The Exposed Nocturnal bullet is made of body-safe ABS plastic, which is non-porous and non-toxic. I really enjoy hard plastic as a toy material, because it’s so firm that it doesn’t dampen down the strength of the vibrations at all.

This toy is also a breeze to clean. Use a body-safe medical wipe, or some gentle soap and warm water – it’s fully submersible! Oil-, silicone- or water-based lubes are all fine with ABS plastic toys.

For extra protection if you’re sharing your toys, pop a condom over it or clean it thoroughly between users.

In Use: Power for Days!

Power is always the crunch point for me, when it comes to whether I like a toy or not. Basically, I want power and lots of it! And ohhhh boy, did the Exposed Nocturnal bullet deliver in this area.

It has 10 settings: five constant speeds and five patterns. Mr CK was stunned when I switched this toy on to show him its power, then said “and that’s the LOWEST setting!” It’s got less pure rumble than the Tango, but no less power. (If the Tango is a 9 on a 1-10 scale of rumbliness, this toy is about a 7.5). Starting out at a low rumble and building up to what I can only describe as a tiny power tool, make no mistake: this baby is extremely powerful. I can come reliably, in only a few minutes, with this toy on the lowest setting – which is practically unheard of for me.

I should mention that it’s a little on the louder side. The volume isn’t unreasonable for the level of power, but it’s not a good choice if you need near-silent. (It does, however, pass the “can Mr CK hear Amy wanking from downstairs when she’s in the bedroom with the door closed?” test. He could not).

In conclusion: the best bullet I’ve ever tried.

And I do not say this lightly! This toy is in-fucking-credible for the price. If you need power but you’re on a limited budget, or if you’re looking for a discreet little vibe to take on your travels with you, look no further.

Let me say it again: This. Toy. Is. $32. Next time anyone tells you that you can’t get a body-safe product without shelling out hundreds, point them to this post.

Thanks to Peepshow for sending me the Blush Novelties Exposed Nocturnal lipstick bullet to review. It will feature next month in a piece on the best body-safe vibrators under $40. [Toy Review] Avant Pride P1 Dildo

A rainbow dildo lying on a white notebook with a unicorn on the cover.
Ridiculous unicorn notebook courtesy of Amy’s impulse-shopping in The Works.

You know what I love about Pride season, among other things? RAINBOWS ON FUCKING EVERYTHING. Seriously, I love it.

The Avant Pride line of toys are manufactured by Blush Novelties and stocked by the wonderful Peepshow Toys, who sent me this product to review. They come in a bunch of different colour schemes based on different pride flags – mine is the rainbow gay/LGBTQ+ pride dildo, but there’s also a lesbian pride dildo, a transgender pride dildo, a genderfluid pride butt plug, a genderqueer pride butt plug, and a leather/BDSM pride butt plug.

They’re a gorgeous line and I adore them. I am, though, sad there’s no bisexual pride product. I’m trying really hard not to read into this as bi erasure. It’s hard, though, when so many of the other letters of LGBTQ+ are represented. Come on, Blush, give us bisexuals some representation!

A rainbow dildo standing next to a glass full of coloured pencils.Facts ‘n’ Figures

The Avant Pride P1 is a fairly petite little thing. It measures only 6 inches total length, with 5.25″ insertable, and has a diameter of 1.4″ at widest point. It also has a distinctly curved shape and a bulbous head, ideal for G-spot or prostate pleasure.

It’s made of very soft, squishy and extremely bendy matte silicone. The base is a strong suction cup (seriously, you should try peeling this thing off a desk – it sticks!) This means you can use it hands-free by sticking it to a floor/desk/chair/shower stall, and it also makes it harness-compatible in case you want to wear it and fuck your lover with it.

Lab-Certified Body-Safe

I’m not really sure what this actually means, as so few sex toys are ever lab tested! I assume it means the company has run the appropriate tests to meaningfully certify their material as body-safe… but, given the sex toy industry is unregulated, it could also just be words.

Even so, the Pride P1 is made of 100% silicone which ensures it definitely is, in fact, body-safe. As it has no motor or anything, it’s also boilable – you can sterilise your pure silicone dildos/plugs by throwing them into a pot of water on the stove, bringing to the boil, and leaving for 10-15 minutes. This is the best way to kill any and all lingering bacteria, and is especially important if you want to share your toy or use it vaginally/orally after having used it anally.

As ever, you can give your toy a quick clean with a body-safe sterile wipe of the kind you can buy in bulk from medical suppliers, and if you’re sharing it without sterilising you should use a condom. Use water-based lube with silicone toys.

Bend and Flex

A rainbow dildo standing on a stack of books about sex.
Also feat: some of my sexy book pile.

This toy, though it feels great in use, is actually a little too bendy for me. When I tried to thrust hard with it, the super-flexible shaft meant that it kept bending in the wrong direction rather than hitting my G-spot accurately. Though lack of a suitable partner being available means I have not had the chance to try it in my harness, I suspect that this issue would also prevent it from being an ideal dildo for vaginal fucking or pegging.

What I do love about this one, though, is the shape. When that wide, rounded head presses into just the right spot… mmmfff. What I have concluded is that this toy is much better as an “insert and leave it in while I do clitoral play” dildo than a “hard and fast fucking” dildo. And that job it performed admirably.

A good cheap, safe option

The Pride P1 dildo retails for $3o, and the whole range are between $26 and $30. This is a really good price for a pure silicone toy, and rivals a lot of the unsafe products available on the cheaper end of the market in affordability.

Do I recommend it?

Reserved yes. I would be happy to recommend these toys to anyone wanting a less rigid dildo, something slimline, or something for leave-in-and-play purposes. I’d be a lot more hesitant to recommend it for strap-on or hard thrusting play. (For that, you’re better off with something like the Silk or the D1). But all around, a solid little toy for the price.

Thanks to Peepshow Toys for sending me the Pride P1 to review! If you buy anything from their site, use my code COFFEE for 10% off at checkout – including the awesome current PrideNJoy sale. [Toy Review] Hop Lola Bunny Rabbit Vibrator

My relationship with dual stimulation toys – those that stimulate both the clitoris and inside the vagina at the same time – is complicated. By which I mean I usually don’t like them, but just occasionally find one that really works for me. So when I’m trying a new one, I’m never particularly optimistic, but always have some hope that it will be one of the rare few that actually get me off.

Let’s Meet Lola…

A pink rabbit vibrator lying on a red and black laptop keyboard. The Hop Lola Bunny is a silicone rabbit vibrator manufactured by Blush Novelties and stocked by my friends at Peepshow Toys, who sent me this item to review. It has a curved shaft of about 7 inches long in total, with 4.25″ of insertable length. The widest part of the shaft is only about 1.25″ in diameter, making it a relatively slimline toy. The “ears” are two prongs each about 2″ long. There are three points of vibration: one in the shaft and one in each of the ears.

A pink rabbit vibrator on a white sheet. The Lola is waterproof (ideal for shower play as well as ease of cleaning!) and charges via USB with a magnetic charging point. I got about an hour of continuous play out of a two-hour charge.

This toy comes in two colour ways: pink and pinker (the official names are “ballet slipper” and “hot pink”). Those of you who have been reading for a while will know that I’m not super into pink toys. I just don’t really like the colour, for one thing. I also think it plays into stereotypes about femininity and “it’s for women so we have to make it PINK!” (Leaving aside that not everyone with a vulva is a woman). Of course, what makes this toy aesthetically unappealing to me will be right up someone else’s alley, and that’s totally cool! My friend and fellow blogger Candy Snatch, for example, really liked the look of the Lola.

The Lola retails for $52.99 (about £40) from Peepshow Toys.

Body-Safety & Cleaning

At some point I need to stop saying in my reviews “this toy is body-safe”. I just won’t test products that aren’t. However, today is not that day and I feel as though it’s still important to point out when a toy is made with due regard to body-safety, because so many are not.

The Lola is made of super smooth silicone, which is both non-toxic and non-porous. This means it’s easy to clean with gentle soap and warm water. You can also clean up easily between uses with a body-safe sterile wipe (I use the kind you can buy in bulk super cheap from medical suppliers – much cheaper than toy wipes, though you can use these if you prefer).

As ever, water-based lube is recommended.

In Use…

A pink rabbit vibrator lying on a dark wood surface.Unfortunately, this toy did not work for me. The shaft and ears are both very flexible. Though I like insertables to have some flex, the ears were so floppy as to make it impossible to gain any kind of pressure against my clit. They might work for you if you like VERY light contact, but as soon as I tried to press the toy into my vulva at all, it just pushed them away.

The strength of the vibrations is the other thing that really let this one down. They felt okay in my hand when I initially switched it on, though nothing to get excited about. But in use I found them extremely weak. Admittedly I am a power queen, but even so!

If you like weaker vibrations or prefer things on the buzzier end, this might be a good choice for you. But if you’re after serious power or rumbly vibes, you’ll want to look elsewhere.

I did find the controls intuitive and easy to use. They are well placed on the front base of the toy, and operate on a simple two-button interface. I also like that you can switch up and down between the patterns, as opposed to some toys where you can only scroll one way.

But overall, I was disappointed by this toy. The relatively lower price point isn’t an excuse, either – there are plenty of cheaper vibes with good, strong motors!

So do I recommend it?

Unfortunately, I don’t. As I said above, if you like lower intensity vibrations and very light clitoral contact, this toy may be a good fit for you, but otherwise I can’t recommend it. If you’re looking for a rabbit toy, consider getting something by The Rabbit Company instead.

[Toy Review] Temptasia Bling Bling Silicone Butt Plug with Clear Crystal

I have a complicated relationship with anal sex. For years, it was the hardest of the hard limits – partly thanks to undue pressure put on me to engage in it when I had barely begin exploring my own sexuality. However, I gradually opened up to exploring it with my now-Primary-partner Mr CK. Now I love it. I’m not able to do it often, but when we do I always really enjoy it.

My collection of anal toys is steadily growing (largely thanks to my sweetheart buying them for me as presents when we started exploring anal play together). But it’s much smaller than my collections of dildos and vibrators. So I was delighted when Peepshow Toys offered me the Temptasia Bling Bling silicone butt plug with a crystal to try out.

The Nitty-Gritty

The Temptasia Bling Bling butt plug on a bathroom sink. The Temptasia Bling Bling plug is manufactured by Blush Novelties, who produce a huge range of toys (they’re behind the Gaia, Real Nude and Aria toy lines, among many others).

The plug is made from silky-smooth silicone, which feels wonderful in the hand and the butt as well as being completely body-safe. The base is heart-shaped and embedded with a clear, sparkly faux-gemstone (the gem is made of plastic).

This plug is available in 3 sizes, so whatever your ass is up for, there’s a sparkly plug for you. I chose the medium, which is 2.8″ in insertable length and 1.4″ diameter at widest point. The small is 2.6″ x 1″, and the large is 3.2″ x 1.75″. None of them are huge. If you crave really big things up your butt, they might not be for you.

Each of the plugs has a tapered tip for easy insertion and a slim neck for comfort, as well as a large enough base to make them anal-safe. (You wouldn’t believe the amount of toys I see marketed as “for anal play” that don’t have a decent base/handle. The golden rule is, if there’s nothing to stop it disappearing all the way inside, don’t put it in your butt).

The Temptasia Bling Bling plug retails for $11 (S), $13 (M) or $15 (L) at Peepshow (this equates to about £8/£9.50/£11). Honestly, they could cost twice as much and I’d still say they were good value. Peepshow’s selection is living proof that good quality, body-safe toys do not need to cost an arm and a leg. I wish all the companies selling unsafe products “because people want cheap things” would catch up.

In Use

We used this plug after quite a long break from any kind of anal play, so I was a bit nervous. (“Shit, should have asked for the small!”) I said on taking it out of the packaging. But with some deep breathing and a generous helping of my favourite anal lube, it slipped inside comfortably.

Once it was in, I found the size perfect. It was large enough that I could feel it every time I moved, but small enough so as not to cause any unnecessary stretching or pain.

I’m happy to say that this is one of the most comfortable plugs I’ve ever worn. The silicone is lovely and soft and there are no seams, ridges or imperfections to cause discomfort. The neck is long enough that it sat comfortably, and the base didn’t chafe or rub against my butt cheeks. I wore it for about an hour while we did other things (see this review for details of that session!) and I could happily have worn it for much longer.

It was just so comfortable, you guys.

I also love how pretty these plugs look in use. The heart shaped gem is super cute and just appeals massively to my #Sparklefemme aesthetic. I’m sure they will be a hit with femmes, babygirls and lovers of shiny things everywhere!

Some Notes on Care & Cleaning

Normally, I recommend that you clean silicone toys without motors – especially anal toys – by boiling them in a pan of water for a few minutes. Unfortunately, you cannot do that with toys like this. The boiling water will ruin the glue that holds the gem in place and cause it to pop out.

The best thing to do is this: Give it a rinse to get any obvious butt-gunk and lube off. Then soak it in a 10% bleach solution (9 parts water to one part bleach) for a few minutes. After that, give it a really thorough wash in warm water and gentle soap, dry thoroughly, and store.

The joining line where the gem is glued into the base could definitely be a home for bacteria to hide. For that reason I recommend fully sterilising this plug between uses even if you’re not sharing it with a non fluid-bonded partner, and taking extra care around that area.

So do I recommend it?

Yes. I particularly recommend this plug for those new to anal play. It’s a safe, quality product at such an affordable price. You could even buy all three and use them as a beginner training kit, if you’re interested in conditioning your ass to take bigger insertables. A great product at an absolute steal of a price.
