[Toy Review] We-Vibe Chorus

Update 2026: a new version of this classic toy for couples, the We-Vibe Chorus Pro, is now out! I have left this We-Vibe Chorus review up because this older version is still available from some retailers.

There are a number of buzzwords and phrases, frequently used to describe sex toys, of which I am highly sceptical. One of these is “for couples”. Another is “hands free”. The We-Vibe Chorus claims to be both of these things. However, my experiences with We-Vibe over the years have been almost universally positive, so with my hopeful-but-ready-to-be-disappointed face firmly in place, I set out to test the new We-Vibe Chorus for you all.

What is the We-Vibe Chorus Vibrator for Couples?

Official product image for We-Vibe Chorus vibrator for couples review

The We-Vibe Chorus is a wearable vibrator with two arms: one that sits inside the vagina, and another that rests against the clitoris. The idea is that it provides extra clitoral stimulation for the wearer during penetrative sex.

Inside you’ll find the toy and remote, a charging cable, and a dock that functions as both travel case and charging station. The Chorus is IPX7 waterproof (i.e. submersible) and USB rechargeable, with a full charge giving around 90 minutes of runtime.

The We-Vibe Chorus is made of soft and squishy matte silicone and comes in three colours. Mine is “Cosmic Pink.” It has a sort of shiny-sparkly effect that’s really pretty.

We-Vibe Chorus Review: What’s New?

The Chorus is the latest iteration of We-Vibe’s signature “wearable” vibrators designed for (primarily cishetero) couples. But how is this one different?

The We-Vibe Chorus and remote

The most obvious upgrade, when we compare the Chorus to the Sync (its most recent predecessor,) is the introduction of the squeeze remote. The tighter you squeeze the remote, the more intense the vibration gets. You can turn squeeze control off with the small button at the top of your remote if you don’t like it.

There’s also new touch-sense tech, which responds to your movements against the sensor and changes the intensity of the vibrations to match depending on which setting you’ve selected. You can turn touch-sense off through the We-Connect app, if you want to. Overall, I found this function’s responsiveness too unpredictable to be pleasurable, and quickly turned it off.

Another significant upgrade to this model is that it is adjustable in two places. Not only can you adjust the distance between the two arms, you can also alter the angle of the internal arm for a more comfortable and stimulating fit. Bodies come in a wide range of shapes and sizes, and one size will never fit all. I find getting poked in the vaginal walls off-putting and the opposite of erotic (weird, I know!) so being able to adjust the Chorus to actually sit comfortably in my body was a game-changer.

Finally, the Chorus is the first We-Vibe product to use a mix of AnkorLink and Bluetooth technology to connect it to the We-Connect app. The difference here was extremely noticeable when I compared the Chorus to earlier We-Vibe products I’ve reviewed. The connection was much more stable and the responses much more consistent.

In conclusion, the Chorus might superficially resemble We-Vibe’s previous offerings, but you get so much more bang for your buck.

In Use for Couples (and Solo Players)

I’ve said before that I find the marketing of “toys for couples” annoying. A toy for a couple is literally anything you use with a partner! Also, that particular phrase generally means “toys you wear during penis-in-vagina intercourse,” which betrays such a narrow understanding of 1) what a couple is and 2) what sex is.

That notwithstanding, the We-Vibe Chorus is a good option if you’re a couple looking for a toy to wear during penetrative sex. The slender and adjustable internal arm makes for a comfortable fit for all different kinds of vulvas and the external arm provides powerful clitoral stimulation (which 70-90% of vulva-owners need to reach orgasm) through a strong and rumbly motor.

It’s not truly hands-free, though, as it does slip around if you’re doing some particularly vigorous thrusting. However I adjusted it, I could not get it to stay firmly in place. Every time I moved more than a little, it would shift and move away from my clit. I ended up using one hand to hold it in place and the other hand to operate the remote.

Worth noting: the lovely Phallophile Reviews suggests that wearing tight knickers (such as Spanx) helps the We-Vibe Chorus stay in place if you want a truly hands-free experience. So that’s something to try!

Do You Need to Use the App to Enjoy this Toy?

Not really!

I tested the app to write this We-Vibe Chorus review but I haven’t used it since (and I have absolutely used the toy since.)

The We-Vibe app is a nice extra, and adds some bonus options such as handing over control to a partner from anywhere in the world, creating your own vibration patterns, and video calling or text chatting. However, you don’t need it and the remote control is more than adequate for controlling the toy if using an app doesn’t sound fun or sexy to you.

We-Vibe Chorus Review: Verdict

Overall, I’m seriously impressed with the Chorus! Despite the hands-free issues, it has a great motor and comes with numerous additional features.

The We-Vibe Chorus is available from Shevibe and directly from We-Vibe (North America or Europe.)

[Toy Review] Hot Octopuss DiGiT & AMO

I received these products in fairly quick succession, so I decided I’d do something a bit different and try a compareview (that’s a comparison/review) of the Hot Octopuss DiGiT finger vibe and AMO bullet. And, because I enjoy a bit of friendly competition, I’m going to award a point in each section of the review and finish by telling you which one I recommend more.

Hot Octopuss Digit & Amo

Hot Octopuss burst onto the sex toy scene in 2013 with the Pulse III, a toy for penis-owners that utilises PulsePlate, a patented technology based on medical science. Read more here, it’s genuinely fascinating. Since then, the company has branched out, with various products for both penises and vulvas. The latest two offerings are DiGiT and AMO.

The Hot Octopuss Digit is a finger vibrator with two plastic loops at the base. You pop two fingers through these loops and the shaft rests against the length of one finger, essentially becoming an extension of your hand while you play.

The Hot Octopuss AMO is a more traditional bullet vibe, with a shaft that widens at the top. One side has a gentle curve and the other has a pinpoint tip for more targeted stimulation.

Stats, Size, and Other Important Things

The Hot Octopuss Digit and AMO are both USB rechargeable, giving around 40 minutes of running time on a full charge. I would prefer both toys to have a longer battery life. It can take me 20-30 minutes or longer to reach orgasm, which functionally means having to charge the toy before every use.

Both toys are USB rechargeable and waterproof.

Size-wise, there’s not much in it either. The Digit is slightly heavier (58g to the AMO’s 43g) while the AMO is a little longer (9.5cm vs DiGiT’s 8.7cm.)

The main shaft of both toys is made of black silicone. The bases (and, in the case of the Digit, the finger loops) are plastic. These toys are designed to be used externally. You could insert them into your vagina if you wished, but they are not anal-safe, particularly the AMO.

Thus far, it’s a draw.

Is the Hot Octopuss Digit or AMO More Innovative?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with taking a tried-and-true formula and doing it well. Bullet vibrators are a staple for a reason, and almost every toy company I can think of has one in its product line. AMO does, however, have an edge over the standard bullet design in that the unique shape adds something extra. We’ll touch on this more a little later.

The Hot Octopuss Digit, though, is a little more innovative. While wear-it-on-your-finger vibrators do, of course, exist elsewhere, all the ones I’ve ever tried have either been made of unsafe materials, had such weak vibrations that my fingers could do a better job by themselves, or both. The two-loops design is also something I haven’t seen before and makes the toy more comfortable to wear.

The Digit wins the innovation round!

Aesthetics

Hot Octopuss toys have a distinct style to them, and these two are no exception. The Digit’s base and finger loops are a kind of brown-bronze colour with a gold band separating the base from the shaft. The Hot Octopuss name is stamped into the silicone on the side of the toy and the crown logo is embossed on one of the finger loops. After just a couple of uses, though, this logo started to rub off.

AMO’s plastic base is a dark red at the bottom which fades to black where it blends with the main body at the join. The company name is embossed on the side of the base. Both toys have the Hot Octopuss crown logo stamped on the bottom of their base.

Aesthetics-wise, AMO wins for me. They’re both perfectly attractive toys but the red and black is such a stylish and sexy combo.

Settings and Controls

On both the Hot Octopuss Digit and AMO, there’s a single on/off/change setting button on one side of the shaft and up/down speed buttons on the other side.

The button placement is kinda awkward on the Digit. Because it was attached to the fingers of my dominant hand, I could only change the settings by either curling my thumb under at a really unnatural angle or bringing my other hand into play.

Full disclosure here, though: I’m left-handed. I also tried the toy on my right hand and this does, indeed, make the button placement feel somewhat more intuitive as the up/down buttons are perfectly placed to press them with your thumb. It still loses points, though, for being significantly less accessible and user-friendly to lefties like myself.

The button placement is much less of an issue on the AMO simply because of the way you use it. When I used it with my left hand, the speed buttons were well placed to easily push with my index finger.

The Digit has five speeds and five patterns, while the AMO has six speeds and five patterns

AMO takes the point for user-friendliness and for that one additional speed.

Hot Octopuss Digit vs. AMO: Which is More Powerful?

They’re identical. Hot Octopuss appears to have used the exact same type of motor in both of these toys.

In terms of power, I’d describe these toys as middling. The vibrations are pretty rumbly and have some power behind them, but they’re not blow-your-socks-off strong. They’re not powerful enough to get me off in five minutes, but they’re not “vainly smooshing it against my clitoris and hoping I feel SOMETHING” either.

It’s a draw on this one.

User Experience

I enjoyed using both of these toys. However, I don’t see myself reaching for the Digit for solo play very often in the future. It’s more likely a toy I’d use for hand sex with a partner. AMO, though, might just earn a place in my regular rotation.

The reason for this difference, given the identical motors, lies in the products’ shapes. The Digit’s smooth surface felt perfectly enjoyable, but the AMO’s pinpoint tip really blew me away. It’s the ideal shape and angle for targeting the perfect spot on my clit.

No contest in this one: AMO wins hands-down.

Price

The Hot Octopuss Digit retails for £59.95 and the AMO retails for £49.95.

The price difference here makes this an easy one – AMO takes another point.

Verdict: Which One Should I Get?

Both of these products are quality toys with decent motors. However, the AMO is the overall winner from my perspective.

[Toy Review] Rocks Off Chaiamo

Q: what’s unique about Rocks Off? A: it’s the only sex toy company whose toys I have seen on the shelves of my local Sainsburys. Rocks Off has consistently offered solid basic toys at affordable prices, and I just received the new Chaiamo bullet vibrator to try out.

Rocks Off Chaiamo: Details

The Chaiamo is a straight vibrator with a gently tapered tip. It measures 6″ in length, with 5″ of insertable length and a diameter of 1.25″ across the centre of the shaft. The button is located on the base of the toy.

The Chaiamo is waterproof and USB rechargeable, with an battery life of around 3 hours for a 3 hour charge. It has made of silicone, with a plastic base. I received the black version, but the Chaiamo is also available in burgundy.

Chaiamo Review: In Use

If I could describe the Rocks Off Chaiamo in one sentence it would be “simple yet effective.”

Shape-wise, it offers excellent versatility. Use the edge for broader stimulation, or the tapered tip if you’re looking for something more focused (though not truly pinpoint.)

It’s also suitable for internal use, if that’s your jam. I hate internal vibrations and I prefer my insertable toys to have a curve, so the Rocks Off Chaiamo isn’t a good choice for internal use for me. However, fellow sex blogger Isabelle Lauren describes her experience very positively in her review. This toy does not have a flared base so is not safe for anal use.

The Chaiamo’s body is rigid, making it ideal for me as someone who likes to press toys firmly into my vulva. Its straight shaft is smooth and untextured.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the Chaiamo’s motor. It is not only pretty powerful, but also far more rumbly than most toys I’ve tried at this price point. It’s also fairly quiet, if that’s important to you.

The Rocks Off Chaiamo’s one button interface is simple to use and the button is easy to press. However, scrolling through all 10 settings—3 constant speeds and 10 patterns—if you want to go back one step is always super annoying.

Rocks Off Chaiamo: Verdict

I’m so impressed with this toy considering how cheap it is!

If you’re looking for a versatile and well-designed basic vibrator with a good motor at an affordable price, the Chaiamo is that toy.

The Chaiamo currently retails for $49.99/£44.99 and is available from Shevibe, Lovehoney UK, Good Vibes and Babeland.

[Toy Review] Hot Octopuss Atom Cock Ring

The purpose of a cock ring is simple: by constricting blood flow out of the penis, enabling a stronger and more consistent erection. Vibrating cock rings have built on this by adding stimulation for the wearer and, if worn during penetrative sex, for their partner. It’s a simple premise, but one that is so often executed really badly. Would the Hot Octopuss Atom, the so-called “next generation in cock rings,” break the mold? I received one to review, so let’s find out.

Hot Octopuss Atom cock ring
Image: Hot Octopuss

Hot Octopuss Atom

The Hot Octopuss Atom is a stretchy black silicone ring. There’s a large contact area with a raised nub at one end, designed to sit against the clitoris of the wearer’s partner during penetrative sex. The Atom is adorned with a simple silver-coloured plastic band featuring the speed buttons and the company’s crown logo. The company name is also stamped into the silicone. A drawstring storage bag is provided.

The Atom is USB rechargeable and waterproof. It has five vibration patterns as well as constant vibrations, each of which can be used on any of five speeds.

A word for those with girthier cocks: you’re gonna need lube, friends! This ring’s diameter is only about 1.5″. It is stretchy to accommodate most sizes, but getting it on can be a challenge if you’re not adequately lubricated.

Hot Octopuss Atom Review: What We Loved

Mr C&K and I tested out this toy together. Let’s start with the things we liked.

Most importantly, the Hot Octopuss Atom boasts by far the strongest vibrations I have ever felt from a cock-ring. They are powerful, rumbly, and satisfying on all levels. I love the additional clitoral contact and focused stimulation provided by the “nub.”

Ultimately, I’m unlikely to have an orgasm from a vibrating cock ring used in the traditional way. Unless my partner puts their penis inside me and then just sort of stays still, there isn’t the level of sustained clitoral contact required to get me there. So I have learned to manage my expectations. Even so, it adds an enjoyable extra later of stimulation for both of us.

It was also tight enough to actually have the desired effect of allowing my partner to maintain a stronger, harder and longer-lasting erection.

What We Didn’t Love

The biggest problem with this toy, from my perspective, is in the placement of the buttons. The two speed buttons are situated on either end of the plastic band across the top of the toy. This means that changing the settings during penetrative sex is difficult and will almost certainly interrupt your flow. We had to pause to look more closely at which button was which, and then to switch settings. This could be easily remedied with a remote control.

There is also quite a large seam where the plastic band connects to the main body of the toy. This area could easily be a germ trap, harbouring fluids and bacteria, so take the time to clean it properly.

Atom or Atom Plus?

Hot Octopuss actually released two cock-rings last year, the Atom and the Atom Plus. Though I have not reviewed the Plus, I will tell you what I know about it to help you make an informed decision. The main differences between the Atom and Atom Plus are:

  • The Atom features one motor primarily designed for clitoral stimulation, while the Atom Plus has two. The second motor offers stimulation of the perineum, the area between the testicles and anus, which is extremely pleasurable for many people.
  • The Atom is worn around the shaft of the penis, whereas the Plus fits around both the penis and testicles.
  • The Plus is, of course, physically bigger and more expensive (at the time of writing it retails for £69.95 to the Atom’s £49.95.)

Hot Octopuss Atom Review: Verdict

There are far too few quality, body-safe toys with good motors on the market for people with penises. Hot Octopuss are ahead of the curve in redressing that balance. If you’re looking for some additional clitoral stimulation during penetrative sex, or if you’ve tried vibrating cock rings in the past and found their motors too weak for you, give the Atom a try.

Mr C&K concluded that the Hot Octopuss Atom is “hands down the best cock-ring I have ever used!”

The Hot Octopuss Atom is available directly from the manufacturer as well as from retailers such as Shevibe, Good Vibes, Babeland, and The Pleasure Garden.

[Toy Review] VēDO Toys Izzy Lay-On Vibrator

VēDO Toys produces a range of sex toys for all types of bodies, all of which are made of silicone and have a seamless finish. The VēDO Izzy is one of the company’s new line for 2018. The first thing that struck me about this range? How affordable it is. The Izzy retails for $45.99 (just under £5.)

What is the VēDO Toys Izzy?

The Izzy is a small lay-on clitoral vibrator measuring 3.8″ in length and 1.1″ wide. It has a flexible, curved body designed to lie flush against the vulva and a pronounced nub at the end of the shaft for more targeted clitoral stimulation. It comes violet (the colour I received) and turquoise.

VeDo Toys Izzy pink lay-on vibrator
Image: VēDO

The Izzy is USB-rechargeable with a running time of around an hour, submersible in water, and equipped with a travel lock. It is made of soft and body-safe silicone. Its petite size makes it comfortable to hold, fitting neatly into the palm of your hand. It’s worth noting that some reviewers have mentioned issues with the battery life, with the Izzy dying after a short amount of running time, though I haven’t encountered these problems personally.

VēDO Toys Izzy Review: In Use

The Izzy has a simple one-button interface built into the silicone. You press the button once to switch it on, press again to cycle through the various different settings, and hold it down to switch the toy off. I don’t love single-button interface toys because having to cycle all the way back through the settings to go back a step is really annoying. I’d have preferred up/down buttons.

The Izzy has 10 modes of vibration including 3 constant speeds. You’ll likely know by now that I don’t really care for patterns. I’m much more a “constant vibrations” girl. However, if you do like patterns, Izzy gives you a decent range to choose from.

VēDO Izzy pink vibrator showed from underneath
Image: VēDO

The VēDO Toys Izzy’s shape is excellent. I particularly like that it allows for multiple ways of using it. You can lay the toy on your vulva, place the vibrator on the bed and straddle or grind against it, or hold the tip or side against your clit or any other body part you’d like to stimulate.

The nub on the end of the shaft is really what takes the Izzy from “okay “fine” to “good” for me. If you enjoy targeted and semi-pinpoint clitoral stimulation or want to experiment with it alongside broader all-over vibrations, this toy is a great starting point.

The VēDO Toys Izzy is also reasonably quiet, given its strength.

Surprisingly Powerful for the Price

I’ve been disappointed by so many clitoral vibrators, including (especially!) those claiming to be “super powerful”, that I rarely expect much from them at this point. This is particularly true for toys at lower price-points.

The Izzy’s vibrations, though, are pretty damn good for the price! They’re also not too buzzy. For those for whom a comparison is useful, this toy is not as strong or rumbly as the We-Vibe Tango but is about on a par with the Je Joue MiMi.

VēDO Toys Izzy: Verdict

The VēDO Izzy is definitely one of the better budget vibrators I’ve tried. The quality is excellent for the price point, with a great shape design and a good motor. You can buy the Izzy from Shevibe or Sex Toys UK.

[Toy Review] Vibratex Magic Wand Original AKA “The Hitachi”

Yes, it’s finally time for a Magic Wand (formerly the Hitachi Magic Wand or simply “Hitachi”) review! Readers and workshop participants often ask me for wand vibrator recommendations, and I did not feel as though I could give a fully informed opinion without trying the so-called “Cadillac of vibrators.” The Magic Wand Original is notoriously hard to come by in the UK. However, a kind US contact was able to hook me up.

The Magic Wand is the toy that started it all when it comes to wand-style massagers. This product was originally sold as a “personal massager” for sore muscles. It was Betty Dodson – artist, educator, masturbation connoisseur, and inimitable vibrator peddler extraordinaire – who popularised the Magic Wand as a tool for masturbation. Since then, there have been countless copycats and imitations, plenty of them terrible and some of them even unsafe. But the Magic Wand still reigns supreme as the most famous and sought-after vibrator of them all.

The Magic Wand Original wand vibrator

Okay, that’s enough of a history lesson. Let’s crack on with the review.

The Magic Wand Original comes packaged in a simple blue and white box with a picture of the product on the outside. This has changed remarkably little from the original packaging of the 1960s, except that the “Hitachi” name has been removed. (The company removed their name from the product in 2013, though continued to manufacture it after persuasion from distributor Vibratex).

The Magic Wand is 12″ long in total and weighs 540g. This puts it on the heavier side. If you struggle to hold heavy things or have a condition such as arthritis, you may want to take the weight and size of the thing into account. A good option for those who want to use a powerful wand but struggle to hold or manipulate it is to use a wand mount.

Vibratex (Formerly Hitachi) Magic Wand Original Review: Details

The body of the Magic Wand Original is made of plastic. The head appears to be PVC, though some retailers list it as TPE. Either way, the material is likely to be somewhat porous. This means it will harbour bacteria and is impossible to truly 100% clean. What this means, in practice, is that your Magic Wand probably won’t last forever. It also means you shouldn’t share it without a barrier.

One option is to buy an attachment made of silicone. Alternatively, if you upgrade to the Magic Wand Rechargeable, the head of that one is silicone.

This is a mains-operated toy and comes with a cable measuring approximately 5 feet in length. If you’re outside of North America, you’ll need a suitable converter to use it safely in your location.

Wand Review: So, Does the Famed “Hitachi” Live Up To Its Name?

I’m sure what anyone reading a Magic Wand review really wants to know is “is it actually as powerful as people say?” Fans of the Magic Wand like to say it has 2 settings: High, and Holy-Fucking-Shit.

So yes, if what you want is power and a lot of it, this toy delivers. There are no patterns and no finely graded settings, so if that’s what you need, give this one a miss. But for pure power alone, it’s a solid bet.

The Magic Wand’s vibrations felt rumbly and penetrating. It’s loud, but then again most wands are. Someone in the next room can easily hear it, so bear this in mind if you’ve got roommates or family at home. Discreet this thing is not.

The Magic Wand Original is operated by a simple one-button interface.

Perhaps surprisingly, though, my overall review of the Magic Wand Original isn’t an unqualified and glowing endorsement. Powerful? Yes. But despite that, I found myself annoyed by both the softness of the head and the flexibility of the neck. When I’m playing with a really powerful toy like this one, I want to be able to push it hard against my vulva and feel the vibrations everywhere.  The bendy neck made it difficult to get the level of purchase I really desired. In this regard, it loses out to the Doxy Number 3 with its rigid silicone head and less flexible neck.

Magic Wand Original Review Verdict: Worth the Hype?

The Magic Wand Original is perhaps the most hyped sex toy of all time, and tends to retail for between $70 and $90 depending on the retailer. Is it worth it?

Yes and no.

The Magic Wand Original is a very powerful toy. However, if you’ve got this kind of money to throw at a wand vibe, I have to say that I think the Doxy is a better investment. The Magic Wand Original loses major points from me for the porous head and the overly flexible neck.

In the final analysis? I enjoyed it just fine, but I was less blown away than I hoped and expected to be. I’d like to review the Magic Wand Rechargeable to see how that stacks up, so get in touch if you can hook me up.

The Magic Wand Original is available from Good Vibes, Babeland, and Lovehoney US.

[Toy Review] Je Joue MiMi

If you’ve been reading my reviews for any amount of time, you will understand that serious power is a big deal for me when it comes to vibrators. I’ve heard Je Joue‘s toys referenced on multiple occasions as being good picks for power fans, but this is the first time I’ve got to try one out for myself. This week, The Pleasure Garden sex toy shop sent me the Je Joue MiMi to review.

Je Joue Mimi: Sex Toy Details

The Je Joue MiMi is a small (8.2 x 5cm), pebble-shaped silicone clitoral vibrator weighing just 78g. It’s so small, in fact, it sits comfortably in my palm. The MiMi is rechargeable via a magnetic USB cable. It is also waterproof and submersible.

Je Joue Mimi sex toy in its box
Image: Je Joue

Made from soft body-safe silicone, the MiMi is available in purple, pink, lilac, and black. It superficially looks quite similar to the Lovehoney Desire Clitoral Vibrator, but (spoiler alert) it’s way better.

In Use

As soon as I turned this petite little sex toy on in the palm of my hand, I knew I was going to be impressed with the Je Joue MiMi. Even on the lowest setting, the vibrations felt impressively rumbly.

Images: Je Joue

When I pressed this toy to my clit, I reached orgasm in less than a minute. Granted, there was some significant warm-up involved, but even so this is an impressive feat. It has 5 vibration patterns and 5 levels of intensity, starting with that low rumble I mentioned and building up to some impressively powerful higher settings.

The Je Joue MiMi has a pretty intuitive and standard sex toy interface, with three buttons: one to turn it on and turn the intensity up, one to turn it off and turn the intensity down, and one to change pattern. Major points for dual-directional controls given that I am constantly complaining about single-button interfaces and how annoying they are. I will say that the buttons are pretty small, so if you’re visually impaired or struggle with manual dexterity this might be a downside for you.

The MiMi has 5 patterns and 5 speeds, allowing you to mix and match to your preferences. I hate patterns (seriously, does anyone like patterns?) As usual, I tried them for about thirty seconds then went “nope” and switched back to a constant speed.

The intensity is really where the MiMi shines. Very few sex toys that I’ve tried can match the MiMi in terms of the small-size-to-good-motor ratio.

With that said, the Je Joue MiMi is definitely a broad stimulation toy. If you prefer very precise or pinpoint sensations, skip this one. For all-over rumbles without the bulk of a wand, though, it’s a great pick.

Je Joue MiMi Sex Toy Review: Verdict

Simple yet elegant, the Je Joue MiMi is an excellent little vibrator.

The Je Joue MiMi is available from retailers such as Good Vibes, Babeland, Sex Toys UK, Shevibe, and Lovehoney US.

[Toy Review] Hot Octopuss Queen Bee

Update 01/03/2021: The Hot Octopuss Queen Bee vibrator is no longer available and has been replaced by the massively improved Pulse Queen. I normally remove obsolete reviews but I’ve left this one up because I think it provides important context on how Hot Octopuss’s vulva toys have evolved.

What is the Hot Octopuss Queen Bee?

I’ve been wanting to try the Hot Octopuss Queen Bee ever since I saw the prototype at Eroticon. With the Queen Bee, HO has created a toy for vulvas using the same “PulsePlate” technology as their revolutionary Pulse toys for penis-owners.

In HO’s own words: “Unlike conventional sex toys, the Queen Bee uses a ‘piston’-type mechanism in order to generate extremely deep and rumbly oscillations.” Basically, the Queen Bee is not strictly a vibrator. It oscillates rather than vibrates.

The Queen Bee is a dark steely grey and looks a bit like a weird, futuristic hairbrush. It’s not a beautiful or even a pretty toy. Its vibe screams “I mean business and I am not here to be decorative.”

Hot Octopuss Queen Bee hairbrush-shaped sex toy with the official packaging
Image: Hot Octopuss

It is made of TPE, which is usually a porous material. However, Hot Octopuss uses medical-grade, non-porous TPE that can be thoroughly sanitised. When I asked my contact about this, they provided a thorough and informative info sheet. This transparency, combined with Dangerous Lilly’s endorsement, gives me enough confidence to say that this toy is made of a body-safe material.

Hot Octopuss Queen Bee Oscillating Vibrator: What I Liked

As a lover of broad and rumbly clitoral stimulation, I was pretty excited to try out the Hot Octopuss Queen Bee. Before I delve into all my issues with this product, let’s look at the things I did like.

  • It’s new and innovative. In an industry where stolen designs, knock-offs and fakes are a constant issue, it is refreshing to see genuine innovation.
  • I find the Queen Bee’s controls reasonably easy and intuitive to use. It has 4 buttons: On/Off, pattern change, speed up and speed down. They’re easy to press and I found it easy to change the setting mid-use without breaking my flow.
  • It has six different settings (constant oscillations and five different patterns) as well as multiple speed options to choose from.
  • It’s very rumbly, especially on the lower speeds.
  • It’s fully waterproof.

Perhaps most importantly, the Queen Bee can get me off (though I need the highest setting to get there, and it’s a slow process.)

What I Didn’t Like

Unfortunately, despite its cool tech and innovative design, this is where things started to go sideways with the Hot Octopuss Queen Bee oscillating vibrator. Here are all the things I didn’t like about it:

  • The oscillations almost completely stop when I press it firmly against my vulva. The sensation was much stronger and more satisfying when I held it very lightly. That’s a pretty big problem if you like pressure or being able to push against a toy in use!
  • It has a huge seam where the oscillating plate joins the rest of the toy. Fluids and bacteria could easily get trapped here, leading me to seriously question this product’s hygiene over time.
  • The material isn’t very smooth and has a very grabby texture.
  • It’s advertised as having a “gentle warm up massage” sensation if you use the back of the toy (opposite the PulsePlate) but unless you have an unusually sensitive clit you probably won’t feel anything. Pitching this as a “feature” is a stretch at best.
  • My God this thing is loud! I don’t really need discretion in my toy use, but certain types and volumes of noise tend to sensorily overwhelm me. And seriously, this fucker is enragingly loud. If you’re easily distracted by noise, skip it. If you live with other people and need a discreet toy, skip it.
  • A full charge takes four hours and only gives around an hour of runtime.

Hot Octopuss Queen Bee: Verdict

Meh? I was hoping for more from this, given the amazing reviews of HO’s toys for penises. Though I didn’t hate the Queen Bee as much as some reviewers, I certainly didn’t love it as much as I wanted to. I expect I’ll use it occasionally when I’m in a very specific mood but it’s unlikely to be a regular go-to.

Skip this one if you don’t love very broad stimulation, if you need pressure, or if you want a quieter toy.

[Toy Review] We-Vibe Tango

Update 02/03/22: The We-Vibe Tango has been replaced by the new and improved Tango X and Tango 2 vibes. I normally remove obsolete reviews but I have left this We-Vibe Tango review up to show the evolution of this product.

Info & Details

Reviews of the We-Vibe Tango often say that it’s the strongest bullet vibrator currently on the market. The Tango is small, measuring only 3.5″ in length and about 0.75″ in diameter. It’s the standard “lipstick” bullet shape with a small flattened edge at the top leading to a point.

The We-Vibe Tango is USB rechargeable with a battery life of around 90 minutes, waterproof, and comes with a drawstring storage bag. It is made of ABS (hard) plastic and available in pink or blue.

We-Vibe Tango Review: In Use

I could just say “the We-Vibe Tango is a fucking great product” and leave it there. Because it is. But let’s get a little more in-depth.

This baby is seriously powerful and seriously rumbly. I particularly love how the plastic body of the toy enhances the rumbles and doesn’t dampen the power of the motor at all. (If this sounds like too much for you and you’d prefer your vibrations to be somewhat dampened by a layer of silicone, the We-Vibe Touch is a great option!)

The Tango is super light and tiny, fitting neatly in my hand. Its single button on the base is easy to press. The single-button interface is kind of annoying – you can only scroll through the settings one way, i.e. you can’t go back a step without flicking through them all first. However, the Tango does have a useful memory function: whichever setting you’re using when you switch the toy off, it will return to that same setting when you switch it back on. There are four constant speeds and four patterns.

This seems like a really petty gripe when this We-Vibe Tango review is so positive, but I need to say it: it bugs me that this toy is advertised as “for solo play.” I mean, sure, it’s definitely great for that. But it’s also great for use with a partner, or several. Just as literally any toy can be “for couples,” any toy can also be used for solo sex. Let’s not get prescriptive in how people use toys.

We-Vibe Tango Review: Verdict

I now understand why so many people rave about this toy. I cannot overstate how utterly excellent it is. It is certainly going to be my go-to for a small, light, travel-friendly and powerful as hell vibe.

The We-Vibe Tango retails for £54.99 at the time of writing. It’s definitely on the higher end of the price range for a bullet vibrator, but I think it’s worth it. It is so superior in quality to the overwhelming majority of superficially-similar toys on the market. It also comes with a one-year warranty.

I bought this toy for myself and did not receive anything in exchange for this We-Vibe Tango review. This post does contain affiliate links and if you buy through one, I make a small commission. All views are mine.
