[Toy Review] Womanizer Next

Can you believe it’s 10 years since Womanizer released their first Pleasure Air clitoral stimulator into the world? That product brought a whole new category of sex toys into popular consciousness and launched a thousand copycats. To celebrate 10 years, the company has released their latest offering: the Womanizer Next, which I just received to review. Let’s have a look how the Womanizer Next stacks up and how it compares vs the Premium 2.

Womanizer Next Clitoral Suction Stimulator Review: What’s New?

The Womanizer Next is the latest in Womanizer’s long line of clitoral suction stimulators based on their patented “Pleasure Air” technology. If you’re not familiar with this type of toy, they feature a nozzle that goes over your clit and then stimulates it with rapid air pulses.

The Womanizer Next comes in sleek and sexy packaging that adds to the overall luxury vibe of the product. In the box you’ll find the toy, the charging cable, a storage bag, a spare nozzle, and an instruction leaflet.

Womanizer Next in its packaging

This toy is rechargeable with a full charge taking around 2 hours and giving you about the same in battery life. It’s also IPX7 waterproof (submersible in up to 1 metre of water).

At first glance, the Womanizer Next and Womanizer Premium 2 bear a strong resemblance and retail for a similar price. But what’s special about the Next and how is it similar and different from the Premium 2?

Womanizer Premium and Womanizer Next
The Womanizer Next (right) with the Womanizer Premium 2

Womanizer Next vs Premium 2: Similarities

  • The two toys are the same basic shape, design, and interface, though the Next is slightly larger than the Premium 2.
  • Both feature a soft, silicone-coated body and body-safe silicone interchangeable nozzles.
  • Both offer 14 intensity settings.
  • Both come with Smart Silence technology (which means the toy will only operate when it’s in close contact with the body) and an Autopilot mode which guides you through a pre-set sequence of stimulation levels.

Womanizer Next vs Premium 2: Differences

This is where the Womanizer Next vs Premium 2 comparison get interesting! The Womanizer Next offers an array of new features alongside those old favourites from the Premium.

  • The latest technology enhancement, 3D Pleasure Air, allows you to control not only the speed/intensity of the suction but also the “depth.” With 14 intensity settings and 3 depth settings – controlled by a separate button – it’s highly customisable.
  • The “Afterglow” function allows you to immediately switch to the lowest setting after orgasm.
  • The new, redesigned motor provides slower pulses than previous Womanizer toys and a “linear, up-and-down movement”. Supposedly this provides a more realistic sensation that more closely mimics oral sex (which… we’ll pick apart later.)

Overall, if you’re choosing between the two products, I’d advise you to go for the Next. You’re only paying £10/$20 more, and you get several great new features for that small price difference.

The Next also comes in two new colourways, Sage and Dark Purple, as well as black.

Womanizer Next Review: Pros

I had high expectations for the Womanizer Next. I’ve tried many Womanizer products over the years and, despite some occasional missteps, there have been far more hits than misses.

Womanizer Next back view

So what were the best things about this one?

  • That depth function! It’s perfect for ramping things up just at the moment when you need a tiny bit more. Each of the three depth settings feels noticeably different on all the toy’s speeds.
  • The Afterglow feature is genuinely brilliant. Many people, including me, find that their clit gets over-sensitive immediately after orgasm. Being able to switch to the lowest setting and continue enjoying a level of stimulation that’s comfortable is a game-changer.
  • The two nozzles provided are slightly different sizes, making the toy suitable for more bodies. The slightly larger one works best for me.
  • I love the slower air pulses, which give a gentler level of stimulation to start with. Great for warm-up or just for high sensitivity days.
  • I can easily use it hands-free just by kinda holding it between my thighs. This is unusual, but suction toys often work best for me with my legs closed rather than spread. I suspect it’s because so much of the focus is on the head of the clit and this position kinda brings everything closer together.
  • The Smart Silence feature isn’t particularly useful to me – I share a house with a partner who knows all about my masturbation habits! – but may be highly useful to those who need to be more discreet.
  • The button placement is intuitive and the interface is simple to use despite the toy’s many features.
  • It works beautifully in water, creating a kind of “swirling” feeling that is absolutely divine.
  • Most importantly, this thing got me off hard and fast. I’ll say this for Womanizer: they’re reliable when it comes to inducing leg-shaking, sheet-soaking, neighbour-scaring orgasms.

Womanizer Next: Downsides

With all of those great things said and this review shaping up positively, was there anything I didn’t like about the Womanizer Next?

  • I still can’t say I see the point of the Autopilot feature. I guess it’s a little more like receiving stimulation from a partner because the toy changes intensity without input from you? However, unlike a partner, the toy cannot respond to your reactions so the changes are essentially random. And if it shifts down at the wrong moment, that seems like a recipe for ruined orgasms and frustration. (Of course, that might be your kink. In which case have fun.)
  • The buttons are not as clicky or easy to press as on previous Womanizer models.
  • I’m annoyed by the “designed for multiple orgasms” marketing. Not everyone can have multiples! Not everyone WANTS to have multiples! Stop being prescriptive. This is less egregious than “orgasm guaranteed” but it’s still… not great.
  • It is not, despite the packaging and product listing’s claims, “noiseless.” Yes, it’s very quiet on the lower settings. However, on the higher settings (and particularly once the top depth settings get involved) I would say it’s average-to-loud.

No, It Still Doesn’t Feel Like Cunnilingus

I’m calling it: it is not possible, with the technology we currently have available, to design a sex toy that accurately and realistically replicates the feeling of receiving cunnilingus. I feel like I say this in every clitoral suction toy review, and the Womanizer Next isn’t going to change that.

Yes, using a clit sucker is much closer to cunnilingus than other forms of stimulation (e.g. masturbation with fingers or vibrators.) It kinda sorta resembles the “sucking” motion that a partner might make on your clit. It’s the closest way for me to scratch that particular itch if I’m craving cunnilingus and do not have a willing partner available. However, it cannot replicate the warmth, wetness, or overall feel of a mouth.

I really wish companies would stop marketing toys in this way, because it just feeds unrealistic expectations. This is a great product, but it is not in any meaningful way an “oral sex simulator.” I am sure such a thing will exist one day, but it doesn’t yet.

Womanizer Next Review: Verdict

The Womanizer Next is, like many of its predecessors, seriously pricey. However, it does offer a lot of bang for your buck (so to speak) in terms of features, functionality, and effectiveness. It’s a great next generation of an already excellent product and a worthy celebration of Womanizer’s 10th anniversary!

The Womanizer Next is available from Lovehoney UK* and Lovehoney US*, and of course Womanizer themselves.

[Toy Review] ROMP Lipstick Clitoral Suction Stimulator

ROMP is a toy brand owned by WOW Tech, the parent company behind brands such as Womanizer, We-Vibe, Pjur, and Arcwave. ROMP toys have a fun, playful aesthetic and come in a range of bright, popping colours. I received the ROMP Lipstick, a petite suction stimulator for the clitoris, to review.

ROMP Lipstick: Suction Clitoris Stimulator Review

The ROMP Lipstick Clitoral Suction Stimulator measures 4″ in total length and looks like, well, a tube of lipstick (or other makeup product such as mascara.) It wouldn’t look at all out of place in my makeup bag.

ROMP Lipstick Clitoral Suction Stimulator

The ROMP Lipstick is a clitoral suction stimulator that – like the thousands of other toys in this category now on the market – uses a nozzle opening and rapid pulses of air to provide “touchless” stimulation to the clit. The toy’s body is made of hard plastic, and its nozzle is made of body-safe silicone.

This toy is rechargeable. A full charge (2 hours) gives you around 60 minutes of use on the top setting. It’s also IPX7 waterproof, i.e. submersible in water up to 1 metre for up to 30 minutes.

Things I Like About the ROMP Lipstick Suction Clitoris Stimulator

Before I start complaining about all the issues with the ROMP Lipstick Clitoral Suction Stimulator, let’s talk about the things I did like!

ROMP Lipstick Clitoral Suction Stimulator

  • The look. In general, I’m “meh” about the concept of sex toys that are deliberately designed not to look like sex toys. But the aesthetic of this one is cute and fun enough that it gets away with it.
  • It’s small, light, and comfortable to hold.
  • The button placement is sensible (on the base of the toy) and the button itself is clicky and easy to press.
  • It has 7 evenly-graded power settings, which is reasonable for a toy at this price point.
  • It’s pretty quiet, especially when the nozzle is against the body.

That’s about it, I’m afraid.

Anything I Don’t Like?

Ugh. Where do I begin? I really wanted to love this product, because I was drawn to its bright colours and cute design. Unfortunately, I have far more negative than positive to say about the ROMP Lipstick suction clitoris stimulator. Namely…

  • The nozzle is too small! I don’t have a particularly large clit, but I couldn’t even get this thing to enclose it all. The nozzle opening is a tiny 1cm in diameter. If your clit is anything but quite small, I think you’ll struggle with this one.
  • The suction mechanism is – how do I put this nicely? – absolute crap. I didn’t get any of the lovely fluttering sensations that I get from good clit suction toys. Instead, it just felt like a particularly weak and buzzy vibrator.
  • The button isn’t always responsive. About 10-20% of the time, I have to press it twice to get the setting to change.
  • For a toy at this price-point, a one-button interface (meaning you have to scroll through all the settings to go backwards) really isn’t good enough.
  • It’s far too expensive. £49.99/$59.99 is a reasonable price for a mid-range toy, but feels like a rip-off for something as disappointing as this.
ROMP Lipstick Clitoral Suction Stimulator

Worst of all is that I knew within two minutes that this thing was never going to get me off. Even with warm-up and some hot content to read, there was just absolutely no way. To be honest, even when I was turned on and my clitoris was sensitive and ready to go, the ROMP Lipstick suction stimulator didn’t even feel particularly good. If “did not give me an orgasm” is a damning statement to make about a sex toy, “did not even feel good” is pretty unforgiveable.

A final and possibly petty gripe: the packaging tells me I can “cancel my next booty call”. This is an immediate ugh from me because I do not think we should be comparing toys to human partners or framing them as replacements, even in jest. It’s also just ridiculously inaccurate considering the speed with which I threw this thing across the room and reached for something effective to finish the job.

Verdict

The ROMP Lipstick Clitoral Suction Stimulator is, all things considered, tremendously disappointing. Its nozzle is too small, its suction functionality is lacklustre, and there is simply no universe in which it will ever make me cum.

Sadly, I’m chalking this one up as overpriced and underwhelming. Especially because you can get far better clitoral suction toys for the same price (or even less!) Skip it.

The ROMP Lipstick suction clitoris stimulator retails for £49.99/$59.99 and is available from Lovehoney UK, Lovehoney US, Good Vibes, Babeland, and Shevibe.

[Toy Review] Promescent Rabbit Vibrator & Bullet Vibrator

If you’ve been around for a while, you might remember my last Promescent review from almost three years ago where I introduced you to their collection of lubes. Well, this company has now released a bunch of new products since then and their team were kind enough to send me two of them, so I think it’s time for another Promescent review, don’t you? Today I’m looking at Promescent’s two new sex toys for vulva owners: a blue silicone rabbit vibrator and bullet vibrator. This new range also includes a cock ring.

Promescent review: Rabbit vibrator (left) and bullet vibrator on a grey blanket

Promescent Rabbit Vibrator: Details

The Promescent Rabbit Vibrator looked promising to me as soon as I unboxed it for this review, and I’m saying that as someone who is very picky about rabbit vibrators and doesn’t get much out of most of them. The flexible, curved clitoral stimulator, in particular, caught my eye.

This toy measures 8″ in total length, 4″ in insertable length. Its slim shaft is 1.2″ in diameter at the widest point. It is made of 100% body-safe silicone in a lovely, rich shade of blue/purple (fun fact: a very similar colour to my hair!) The material, it has to be said, is absolutely lovely. It’s ultra-soft and feels gorgeous to the touch.

Promescent rabbit vibrator in a woman's hand

The Promescent Rabbit Vibrator is waterproof, USB-rechargeable, and comes with a drawstring storage bag. You’ll get around 2 hours running time from a 2 hour charge.

Promescent Blue Silicone Rabbit Vibrator Review: Pros & Cons

Let’s start with the good and talk about what I liked about this toy.

  • Its shape is excellent. The insertable portion has a gentle curve and a pronounced tip which is ideal for G-spot stimulation.
  • The flexibility is a huge perk for a rabbit toy like this. It makes it comfortable to insert and easy to move around to get the best possible angle. Since all bodies are different, this will make the Promescent Rabbit accessible to far more users.
  • The clitoral arm is curvy and flexible enough that it actually stays in contact with my clit when I thrust with the toy or change positions! This is rare in rabbit vibrators, and I love it.
  • The buttons are easy to press and the controls are simple, intuitive, and responsive. Plus and minus buttons allowing you to switch between settings in both directions are a big advantage.
  • The button placement is sensible and comfortable to use.
  • It has three patterns and a constant vibration setting, all of which you can use on three different speeds. (That’s 12 settings in total.)
  • It’s pretty quiet.
Promescent rabbit vibrator buttons close up

So with all those good things said, was there anything I didn’t like?

  • When I turned the Promescent Rabbit Vibrator on to start this review, the intensity of the vibrations felt promising. Unfortunately, in use, they felt weaker than I expected them to, particularly in the clitoral stimulator. Companies continually design rabbit vibrators with the stronger motor in the internal section and, given that the overwhelming majority of people with vulvas orgasm primarily from clitoral stimulation, this is going to be the wrong way around for the vast majority of users.
  • The vibrations are buzzier than I would ideally like.
  • The buttons are small and hard to see in anything but bright light. Larger or lit buttons would make the toy more accessible.
  • I would have preferred the ability to control the two motors independently. Many users, including me, don’t always like the same level of stimulation internally as externally.

The Promescent Rabbit Vibrator retails at $109.99.

Promescent Bullet Vibrator Review: Details

The Promescent Bullet Vibrator is made of the same soft, silky, blue/purple silicone as the rabbit. It measures a petite 3.5″ in total length, about the same as a lipstick.

Promescent review: purple bullet vibrator in a woman's hand

It’s USB rechargeable, giving about 90 minutes of runtime for a 2 hour charge, and waterproof. You’ll find the charging cable and a drawstring storage bag in the box alongside the toy.

Promescent Bullet Review: Pros & Cons

Once again, let’s start the review with the things I liked about the Promescent Bullet Vibrator.

  • The twist towards the base makes it so easy and comfortable to hold. This is such a simple but brilliant design feature!
  • Like the Rabbit, the Bullet’s silicone is super soft and silky.
  • The large button on the base is easy to locate and press, even in dark environments.
  • I really love the lipstick-style shape, which gives you the option of broad stimulation (using the side), pinpoint stimulation (using the edge), or a middle ground (using the flat top part.)
  • It has 9 settings, which are really the same three – constant vibrations and two patterns – on three different speed levels. That’s enough for variety, but not enough to get unwieldy with a one-button interface.
  • It’s powerful enough that I can usually cum with it unless I’m having a particularly low-sensitivity day.
  • It’s very quiet.
Promescent bullet vibrator button

Anything I didn’t like about this one?

  • I feel like I say this about every toy I review, but I would have liked the Promescent Bullet’s motor to have a little more rumble. It’s reasonably powerful, but it’s also quite buzzy.
  • A two-button interface with up/down options would be a nice addition, but it’s not critical.

The Promescent Bullet Vibrator retails at $69.99.

Promescent Blue Silicone Rabbit and Bullet Vibrator: Verdict

Overall these are two well-made and solidly designed toys! The bullet is the winner for me personally out of the two, though the Rabbit also has plenty to recommend it, particularly in terms of its physical shape and design. Both toys came attractively boxed and were delivered in discreet packaging. They’re reasonably priced for what they are, too.

Promescent also offers a 60-day guarantee. If any product doesn’t do it for you, you can return it within 60 days for a full refund.

[Toy Review] YoYoLemon Thrusting & Rotating Masturbator and Rabbit Vibrator

YoYoLemon recently sent me two toys to review: a rotating masturbator and a rabbit vibrator. Reviewing penis toys can be a challenge for me, not being in possession of a penis. My nesting partner, Mr C&K, is often willing to assist but was unable to on this occasion. I’d like to extend my thanks to my dear friend SilverDom for lending his cock and opinions to the cause of sex toy reviews.

YoYoLemon Thrusting and Rotating Masturbator: Details

The YoYoLemon Male Masturbator with Rotating and Thrusting and Female Moans, Realistic Textured Vagina Pocket Pussy (to give it its full and exhausting title!) is a penis masturbator in the typical “hard outer cup, soft inner sleeve” style. Like many other toys of its kind, it wouldn’t look out of place amidst a lineup of high-end kitchen gadgets. It measures a hefty 10.5″ in length and 3.5″ in diameter. The maximum penetration depth is 5.2″.

The exterior case is hard ABS plastic, while the interior is TPE. This internal part is removeable for cleaning. TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) is usually non-toxic, but it is porous. This means that you can never get it truly sterile. The material will harbour bacteria and begin to degrade after a while.

It’s generally fine to use TPE toys for external use, and the vast majority of penis masturbators are made of this material. However, you should throw it away as soon as it starts to split, smell bad, or show any other signs of material degredation. You shouldn’t share a TPE toy, as this can be an STI transmission risk. Wash it with soap and water after each use, and then dust it with a little bit of cornstarch to encourage it to dry out completely.

YoYoLemon thrusting and rotating masturbator

This masturbator offers both thrusting and rotating functions, as well as audio playing female voices making moaning sounds. I’m equally amused and a little unsettled by the idea of a toy that moans at you as you use it.

The YoYoLemon Thrusting and Rotating Masturbator is rechargeable. A full charge takes 2.5 hours and gives you anything from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours of runtime, depending on the settings you’re using.

Confusingly, the packaging states that the toy is “waterproof” but the instructions then warn you not to keep it in water for long. I have not tested it in water for fear of killing it, but this suggests to me that it’s somewhat water-resistant for cleaning but it definitely wouldn’t be a good idea to use it in the bath or shower.

SilverDom notes that the text on the packaging “reads like it has been run through Google Translate 17 times.” An actual quote: “Do not let go the start of moanin and return to the moanin forward.” The instructions, such that they are, are written in much the same way. Hire an actual translator for your product info, please and thank you.

YoYoLemon Thrusting Masturbator Review: In Use

The YoYoLemon Thrusting and Rotating Masturbator looks and feels well-built and is heavy in the hand. Most people will likely need two hands to operate it.

YoYoLemon thrusting and rotating masturbator

The inner sleeve is lined with dozens of little nubs to provide additional stimulation, and the opening is “vaguely vulva-shaped.” At first, the opening appears quite small, meaning that if your penis is above average in either length or girth you might worry about whether it’ll fit. Don’t worry, though—this toy is stretchy. With a little water-based lube, it will accommodate the majority of penis sizes easily. If you have a slimmer penis, you might find it frustrating as the inner tube is quite wide and doesn’t have the tightest grip. SilverDom reported finding the inner nubs quite rough and not particularly pleasurable.

The toy offers 10 patterns of twisting and thrusting and a single button that cycles through them all. What is lacking, though, is speed control. A scroll wheel or separate buttons would fix this problem. “I found all of the patterns entirely useless to me, largely because I had no control over them. I came frustratingly close to orgasm at least 4 times,” SilverDom says.

There are three buttons on the toy in total. The other two switch it on and off, and control the moaning sounds.

Oh, and those moans? They’re basically low-quality mainstream porn sounds. If this is something you find sexy, fair enough. SilverDom and I both agreed it was mostly weird and distracting. There is a headphone jack if you want to make use of this feature discreetly. The toy’s actual sounds in use are—despite claims to the contrary—also rather loud and distracting.

The YoYoLemon Thrusting and Rotating Masturbator features a suction cup to attach it to a wall or other surface for hands-free use. The suction cup is reasonably sturdy and holds it in place well.

Cleaning is ostensibly easy thanks to the removable inner part. However, it’s actually quite hard to take apart and put back together. This is made worse by the fact that the tube and entrance are two separate pieces.

Rotating Masturbator Review: Verdict

This one’s more miss than hit, unfortunately. There are just too many problems and design-and-execution flaws for me to really recommend it. Speed controls, a non-porous material, a better designed internal sleeve, and removing or improving the weird moaning function would all vastly improve the quality of this product.

This toy retails for $79.99/£65.99. It might be cheaper than other comparable products on the market, but it’s not really worth the cost saving when there’s such a dip in quality. You can spend just a little more and get something much better.

I’m gonna conclude with SilverDom’s TL/DR: “I don’t think a toy has ever made me feel so sexually frustrated… or with such temporary hearing loss!” Unfortunately, the promised “earth-shaking orgasms” were not forthcoming.

YoYoLemon Rabbit Vibrator

I’ve long had a mixed relationship with rabbit vibrators. Over the years I’ve tried some absolute gems, a lot of middle-of-the-road and fine-but-ultimately-forgottable toys, and some that were really pretty bad. I’ll be honest: I rarely reach for them when I’m masturbating, and even more rarely when I’m using toys with a partner.

This is partly because I have an on-again, off-again relationship with vaginal penetration. It’s fine and I enjoy it sometimes, but my clit will always be the key to my heart. But it’s also because rabbit vibes tend to be so goddamn fiddly to use. By the time I’ve positioned a rabbit exactly right so that it’s stimulating my clit without poking me in the vaginal wall, and then messed around with different settings to get the “gentle on the vag, intense on the clit” combo I need to get off, I’m more likely to be feeling annoyed and bored than turned on.

So while the mood for them strikes occasionally, rabbit vibes are rarely likely to be my first choice.

YoYoLemon Rabbit Vibrator

Even so, the legend of the rabbit vibrator persists. They’re arguably one of the most enduringly popular types of sex toys out there. I think that’s partly because of the ways they’ve been portrayed in popular culture (that Sex and the City scene, anyone?)

I think it’s also partly because they connect to the idea of the “blended orgasm”—an orgasm that’s reached through clitoral and G-spot stimulation simultaneously. Many consider this to be a better type of orgasm than other kinds. I’m cynical about this, to say the least. Firstly, because the experience of sexual pleasure is so intensely personal and unique, I’m not sure we can (or should) meaningfully break orgasms down into discrete “types.” Secondly, even if we can, I’m extremely wary about elevating some types of orgasms over others. Some people climax in that way, and other people don’t.

YoYoLemon Rabbit: Details

The YoYoLemon Rabbit (full title YoYoLemon Rabbit Vibrator for Women with 9 Thrusting and 9 Vibration Modes for Vagina G Spot and Clitoral Adult Sex Toys) measures 8.4″ in total length and 4.7″ in insertable length. The shaft is a slimline 0.95″ in diameter at the widest point.

Incidentally, I have no idea why this toy has the word “thrusting” in the title. It does not thrust.

YoYoLemon Rabbit Vibrator
Sidebar: obsessed with my nails in this one.

This toy is made of body-safe matte silicone in a dark pink shade. The shaft and the underside of the clitoral stimulator both have a ribbed texture. It is IPX7 waterproof, meaning you can immerse it in water safely—ideal for using in the bath or shower. It’s also USB rechargeable and comes with the necessary cable. A full charge takes about 2 hours and gives you around 90 minutes of continuous use.

Yoyolemon Rabbit Vibrator: Pros and Cons

First of all, let’s look at what I did like about the Yoyolemon Rabbit Vibrator.

Pros

  • The silicone is lovely to the touch—soft and smooth.
  • The shaft is a good shape, with a very gentle curve that’s good for targeted G-spot stimulation without being too pokey or pointy.
  • The texturing on the underside of the clitoral stimulator was nice, providing an additional and different sensation alongside the vibrations.
  • One of the big problems with many rabbit vibrators lies with positioning. Since all bodies are different and there’s a wide variation between vulvas, rabbit toys with both arms in fixed positions are only ever going to work for a small number of users. The Yoyolemon’s rabbit has a super flexible clitoral stimulator, making it easy to position the toy correctly for your body.
  • There are 3 constant vibration speeds and 6 patterns, making 9 settings in all. No matter what you like, there’s probably something in there that will suit you.
  • The user interface is simple, with an on/off button and a settings button. These two buttons are well-placed and easy top press.
  • It is discreetly packaged in a sturdy black box and comes with a drawstring storage bag.
YoYoLemon Rabbit Vibrator

Cons

There were also a few notable downsides to this product, including:

  • Supposedly, the Yoyolemon Rabbit Vibrator has an automatic warming function, heating up the shaft of the toy to 107F (42C, or just above body temperature) for “very realistic satisfaction.” It supposedly gets up to temperature in 3 minutes. Unfortunately, my toy’s heating function did not work at all even when I left it running for a good 15 minutes.
  • That flexible clitoral stimulator? While it’s great for positioning, it’s really a bit too flexible. No sooner have I got it on my clit than it flops away again if I change angles even slightly.
  • The vibrations are not particularly strong and buzzy as fuck. Even on the highest setting and with plenty of warm-up, there’s zero chance this toy will ever make me cum. After ten minutes or so, my clit was so numb I could barely feel anything at all.
  • The toy isn’t particularly loud, but the sound it does make is high-pitched and whiny with an occasional concerning rattling.
YoYoLemon Rabbit Vibrator buttons close-up

  • You can’t control the two motors (clitoral and G-spot) separately. For people like me, who want the aforementioned intense clitoral stimulation alongside gentle (or no) internal vibrations, this is a huge downside and renders the toy pretty much unusable.
  • You can only scroll through the settings one way, meaning a lot of button-pressing if you want to go back to the previous one.

Verdict

The Yoyolemon Rabbit Vibrator retails for £57.99 (or $69.99 US) which I think is really too expensive for what it is: a fairly basic rabbit vibrator. I’m sorry to say that I’d be feeling pretty disappointed if I’d paid that much for this product considering that it’s never going to get me off.

[Toy Review] Godemiche Vibe Pads

Since they first released the revolutionary Grind Ring, Godemiche have been adding more and more products to their range of grinding toys. The latest is the Vibe Pad vibrating grinder, which I just received to review.

What is a Vibe Pad Vibrating Grinder?

Godemiche Vibe Pads in "Jelly Bean" and "Ridges" textures

Vibe Pads are the latest iteration of Godemiche’s line of grinding toys which began with the Grind Ring and continued with the Grind Pad. Each Vibe Pad is a flat, rectangular piece of piece of silicone with a cylindrical raised area a few inches long in the middle. The raised part is covered in texturing to stimulate the vulva and clitoris when you grind against it.

It is hollow, with a slit in the back where you can insert the included bullet vibrator. There is also an indent in the silicone where the vibrator button sits, allowing you to switch it on, off, or change settings without taking it out.

Back of the Godemiche Vibe Pad

Vibe Pads come with removable straps so you can attach them to a surface, toy mount, or body part if you want to.

Each Vibe Pad is customisable. You can select your texture, choose from the standard “extra soft” or medium-firm silicone, choose one or two colours from over 60 options, and choose the colour and length of your straps.

Vibe Pad vibrating grinders are available in nine different textures. I received four of them to try.

Back of the Godemiche Vibe Pad

Godemiche Vibe Pad: “Jelly Bean”

I decided to start the review with this one, since this Vibe Pad texture is my least favourite of the four I received. The fact that I still quite like it should tell you how I feel about this range overall.

Jelly Beans is the gentlest of the four Grind Pad textures I’ve tried. As you grind, each of the little beans laps slightly against your… no, I’m not making a “bean” joke. It’s too obvious and I am ashamed of myself for even thinking it.

Godemiche Vibe Pad in "Jelly Bean" texture

This one definitely works best with a vibrator. The vibrations which cause each of the little beans to flicker and quiver. I’m actually wondering, though, whether the Jelly Beans texture would work better if the beans lay horizontally rather than vertically. With them positioned vertically, a lot of that lovely “flicking” sensation is lost because you’re grinding with the texture rather than against it.

I enjoy using the Jelly Beans Vibe Pad as a warm-up toy. Overall, though, I find this one too gentle and I haven’t been reaching for it anywhere near as much as the others. This might be a good one to start with if you’re new to hump toys or just prefer a less intense type of stimulation.

Godemiche Vibe Pad: “Ridges”

The Ridges texture is a bit like a slight variation of the “Waves”, which was my favourite of all the original range of Godemiche textures, so I knew straight away that I was probably going to like this one.

Godemiche Vibe Pad in "Ridges" texture

The Ridges are perhaps more intense than the Waves, as the tops of them are slightly firmer and they don’t move quite as smoothly. If you liked the Waves texture and think you’d enjoy more intensity, this is a great step up. You’ll really need adequate lubrication for this one, though. I like to add a little to both my body and the surface of the toy.

The great thing about this texture is that the ridges are close enough together that, as you grind, you get a constant rubbing sensation along your vulva and clit. Of the Grind Pads I received for this review, this is the one that can most reliably get me off.

Godemiche Vibe Pad: “Waves”

My love affair with Godemiche’s Waves texture continues with this iteration. The silicone ripples are very soft and flexible, and close enough together to provide constant clitoral contact as I grind against it.

Waves Vibe Pad hump toy by Godemiche

It’s a bit like having your clit licked by lots and lots of little silicone tongues. It’s also an ultra smooth sensation compared to many of the other textures. I like this one best when I can grind down really hard against it.

Godemiche Vibe Pad: “Tall Pyramids”

The Tall Pyramids texture is a variation on the “Spikes” from the original range and, at first glance, it looks a little scary. Who wants sharp-looking pointy things near their vulva!?

Tall Pyramids Vibe Pad hump toy by Godemiche

However, when you touch the tall pyramids you’ll realise that they are actually very soft and flexible. Depending on how hard you grind against the toy, you can get anything from a very gentle tickle up to quite an intense rubbing sensation. The pyramids glide around your vulva and flick over your clit, stimulating you all over at once but in a way that’s somewhat unpredictable.

Let’s Talk About the Vibrator

Your Vibe Pad comes with a vibrator included: the RO80 bullet by Rocks Off. This battery-operated mini bullet vibe has a single-button interface and 7 different settings (3 constant speeds and 4 patterns.)

The Vibe Pads are cleverly designed with a “button” cut into the silicone right where the vibrator’s button sits. This means that you can turn it on, off, or change the setting during use without having to take the vibrator out. This is an excellent touch.

Used by itself, the RO80 isn’t anything special. It’s not terrible, but it’s pretty buzzy and not particularly powerful. It’s definitely an enhancement to the Vibe Pad’s main function as a grinding toy rather than the main event.

The design of the Vibe Pad is such that the vibrations dissipate all the way across my vulva regardless of which texture I’m using. In my experience, they definitely work best with the more “raised” texture designs than the flatter ones, as they make everything sort of quiver.

Your other option, of course, is to use any bullet vibrator you prefer that fits within the slot. However, this will make operating it more fiddly unless your vibe of choice also happens to have a single button in exactly the same place.

In reality, I rarely use my Vibe Pads with the vibrator since testing them for this review. Godemiche’s grinders are so good on their own that the vibrator is an extra I don’t feel like I really need. But it’s nice to have the option!

Verdict

I am, once again, totally obsessed with these toys and ready to evangelise about them to anyone who will listen! They’re a great evolution of the basic grinder concept.

Vibe Pads start from £54.99 for a random colour with the vibrator included. Optional extras including custom colours, strap lengths, strap colours, and lube available at an additional cost. You can also save by getting a bundle of 3 textures in the same colour.

[Toy Review] HoneyPlayBox Seduction, Alvina, and Oly Vibrators

HoneyPlayBox is a multi-award-winning adult manufacturer and retailer, and recently offered me some products to test and review. In this post, we’ll be looking at three vibrators: the Seduction, Alvina, and Oly. Let’s get into it!

HoneyPlayBox Seduction Tongue Vibrator Review

The HoneyPlayBox Seduction won the Xbiz Toy of the Year Award 2021, so I was very keen to test this award-winning product.

HoneyPlayBox seduction clit licking tongue vibrator suction vibrator

The Seduction’s innovative design combines light suction (of the type you’d get from a pussy pump) with a rapid licking action from a small silicone tongue. The wide head sits over your vulva, creating a seal. This then provides suction either constantly or in a pulsing pattern, while the tongue laps at your clit. There are 5 suction modes and 10 tongue modes to choose from.

Buttons on HoneyPlayBox Seduction tongue vibrator

The only real downside for me was that I struggled to get the Seduction to create a proper vacuum against my vulva due to my pubic hair. This tongue vibrator was definitely designed with hairless pussies or heavily trimmed pubes in mind. Getting it to stick in place and create a seal was a matter of trial and error, and it would dislodge with a small wrong movement. Adding a little water-based lube around the rim helped to get a seal, but it still wasn’t perfect.

HoneyPlayBox Seduction clit licking suction vibrator for a review of tongue vibrators

That frustration aside, I enjoyed using the Seduction. The suction function offers a new and different sensation that’s unlike any toy I’ve used before, and the flicking tongue is perfect for those who love intense and targeted clitoral stimulation. If you tend to go for pinpoint vibrators, you might enjoy this one.

The HoneyPlayBox Seduction is rechargeable via the included cable (a full charge lasts around 3 hours) and made of body-safe silicone with ABS plastic accents. The suction makes a distinctive whirring noise, but it’s not super loud. The flicking tongue is impressively quiet. The Seduction is splashproof but not waterproof.

HoneyPlayBox Alvina Tongue Vibrator Review

Today’s second review item, the HoneyPlayBox Alvina. features a circular handle/base with a finger loop for ease of use. It’s ultra light and a pretty pinkish red colour.

Alvina tongue vibrator for a review of HoneyPlayBox tongue vibrators

The Alvina opens at the top to reveal a wide silicone tongue. This tongue flicks back and forth in any one of 9 different speeds and patterns. It’s controlled by a single button, and the tongue can be used by itself or with any of the 9 vibration patterns controlled by the second button. You can mix and match the two functions in any combination. This creates over 80 different possible combinations (many of which I tried while testing this tongue vibrator for this review!) Pretty neat!

My clit adores the Alvina’s wide, flat tongue, especially when combined with plenty of lube. The gentle, rhythmical lapping is an amazing warm up and, when I add the vibrations, it becomes intense enough to get me off.

Alvina tongue vibrator clitoral oral sex simulator by HoneyPlayBox

The vibrations in the HoneyPlayBox Alvina are quite buzzy, which I usually complain about in a review. But in this context I find I don’t mind as much. I think the combination of vibration and tongue motion means that I don’t really notice that the vibes are buzzier than I’d typically go for.

The Alvina is rechargeable, with a full charge lasting up to 3 hours. Like the Seduction, it’s impressively quiet. Made of silicone with ABS plastic, it is hygienic and body-safe. The Alvina is also waterproof.

HoneyPlayBox Oly Review

HoneyPlayBox Oly app-controlled vibrator

Upon first glance at the HoneyPlayBox Oly vibrator, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a butt plug. It certainly looks like one! It could be used as one if you wanted, though. However, its main purpose is as a a two-in-one clitoral and G-spot vibrator that comes with added app-control functionality.

The Oly measures 4.4″ in total length, of which just over 3″ is insertable, and 1.6″ in diameter at the widest point. It is IPX7 waterproof (i.e. submersible) and USB rechargeable via the included magnetic cable. Made of high quality silicone, it’s available in two colours, pink or turquoise.

HoneyPlayBox Oly remote control vibrator

The Oly’s vibrations, particularly in the clitoral stimulator, are pretty powerful. I’m not sure if the motor in this part is actually more powerful, or if it’s just less dampened because the silicone here is thinner. Either way, stronger external vibrations and weaker internal ones is the correct combination for me. On the downside, however, the vibrations are pretty buzzy.

I also love that curve. The internal portion of the Oly is the perfect length and shape for targeted G-spot pressure, at least on my body. The two raised ridges on the top side of the clitoral stimulator are ideally positioned and awesome for sort of grinding against, and the flexibility of the neck makes insertion comfortable and positioning easy.

HoneyPlayBox Oly app-controlled sex toy

Unfortunately, the Oly doesn’t stay in place very well well. I have to use my hands to hold it if I want to keep the internal part inside and the external part against my clit at the same time. In addition, the distance between the internal part and the clitoral stimulator won’t work for all bodies. It just about fits on mine, but if you have a larger distance between your vaginal opening and your clitoris then it just won’t fit right.

Finally, I don’t love that it’s a one-button interface (super annoying when there’s 9 settings to scroll through) or that you can’t control the two motors separately.

Buy the Oly here.

How is the App Functionality?

Many HoneyPlayBox toys, including the Oly, are app enabled. The HoneyPlayBox app is available free on both Android and iOS. You’ll need to set up an account with your email address and then choose a username. (You’ll also have to select if you’re a “girl” or a “boy”, which is entirely unnecessary as well as annoyingly binary.)

On the main screen, there are two wheels that allow you to control the toy’s two motors and switch between settings with a swipe of your finger. The responsiveness is excellent and it’s nice to have an easy way to control the two motors independently. Tapping the rocket button on the left gives you “enhanced mode”, which is just more powerful vibrations, while the pause button on the right allows you to momentarily switch off the vibrations without losing your chosen settings.

“Free touch” allows you to create your own vibration patterns for each motor, changing them as you go along by swiping the bee icons up or down. “Music mode” makes the toy vibe along with either ambient noise or audio files on your phone. And “remote play” allows you to connect with a partner from a distance and hand control to them.

Overall I’m impressed with the HoneyPlayBox app’s good array of features and its excellent reliability and responsiveness.

[Toy Review] Godemiche Grind Pads

I’m a big fan of Godemiche’s Grind Rings, deceptively simple yet utterly ingenious (and surprisingly versatile) sex toys. Originally designed with clitoral stimulation during penetrative sex in mind, they can be used in a huge array of different ways. Godemiche has now added these strap-down Grind Pad variations to their grinder range as an alternative to the original wearable version.

Godemiche Grind Ring and Godemiche Grind Pad

Godemiche sent me four Grind Pads to try.

What Makes the Godemiche Grind Pad Different?

Godemiche’s Grinding Pad is a rectangular, non-wearable variation on the Grind Ring theme. Instead of a hole to make it wearable, each pad come with adjustable straps (available in a range of colours). This means they can be attached to a surface, whether that’s a partner’s thigh, a pillow, the arm of a chair… or whatever other options you can dream up.

The Godemiche Grind Pad is currently available in the Bubbles, Spikes, and Tall Waves basic textures as well as three dual texture versions. It’s also worth mentioning that these toys are made in the “High Grind” style, meaning that their mounds are more raised and pronounced.

All Godemiche clit grinders are made from body-safe silicone. Highly textured grinders can be a bit of a pain to clean, so I recommend using the boiling method to ensure they’re properly sterilised.

Grind Ring, Grind Pad, or Vibe Pad?

Godemiche dual texture clit grinder collection

With an expanding range of clitoral grinders, let’s do a quick breakdown of Godemiche’s main grinder categories:

  • Grind Rings have a hole for a penis or dildo to fit through, making them ideal for use during partnered penetrative sex
  • Grind Pads don’t have the hole but instead come with straps so that you can attach them to a surface such as a piece of furniture, toy mount, or partner’s leg
  • Vibe Pads are shaped like Grind Pads and also come with straps, but have a space in the back to add a bullet vibrator

Soft or Firm?

The Grind Pads and Vibe Pads are available in two choices of firmness level: soft or firm. I selected two “soft” toys and one “firm” toy to allow me to try both.

This choice is all about how much intensity you like. To understand your preferences here, think about other toys you’ve used, or how you masturbate. Do you tend to press toys firmly against your vulva or apply a lot of pressure with your hand? If so, choose a firmer toy. If you use a softer or lighter touch, on the other hand, choose the soft option.

I prefer the firmer toys overall, as I tend to like a higher level of pressure.

Godemiche Grind Pad: “Bubbles”

Godemiche Grind Pad

The higher mound of the Bubbles Grind Pad provides targeted clitoral stimulation and a firm yet squishy surface to grind down on. This texture is one of the gentler options in Godemiche’s range, offering a smooth and gliding (especially when coupled with a little lube) yet bouncy sensation.

This is one that really benefits from the Medium firmness instead of the standard Extra Soft silicone.

Godemiche Dual Texture Grind Pad: “Bubbles & Suckers”

Godemiche Bubbles and Suckers clit grinder

This Grind Pad combines the Bubbles texture from the original range with Godemiche’s brand-new Suckers texture. The suckers are inspired by tentacles and similar to one of the textures in the Offbeat masturbator range.

As you grind against this one, the suckers provide a gentle tugging, almost kissing sensation. The suckers are spaced out in a V shape, providing a spread of sensation across the entire vulva. I particularly love the three suckers in the middle, which are perfectly positioned to hit my clit every time I move over it.

In my experience at least, this one provides the gentlest sensation of the three dual texture Grind Pads. I requested it in soft and in hindsight, I think I should probably have gone for the medium firmness. I enjoy it, but it’s sometimes not quite… enough?

Godemiche Dual Texture Grind Pad: “Ridges and Bumps”

Godemiche Ridges and Bumps clit grinder

This one combines the Ridges (one of my all-time faves from Godemiche’s clit grinder textures!) with lots of tiny little bumps between the ridges.

You get the constant back-and-forth rubbing sensation of the ridges, combined with the additional all-over stimulation of the bumps. My initial instinct with this one was to grind against it hard, but actually I find that a little less pressure works best here. Easing off the pressure a little bit means that I feel the bumps much more.

Again, I requested this one in soft and I think firm might have been the preferable option. It’s a great combination of textures, but I really wanted to feel the bumps a little more than I did. It might also help if they were just very slightly larger.

Godemiche Dual Texture Grind Pad: “Bubbles and Bumps”

Godemiche Bubbles and Bumps clit grinder

I’ve saved the best for last here. This is my favourite dual texture of the three, and has quickly become one of my most-used grinders. (I recently had a major sort-out of my toy collection and realised I own more than 20 grinders, so this is high praise!)

With this one, you get the bouncy sensation of the large bubbles, with the addition of dozens of little raised bumps flicking across your vulva and clit every time you move. Depending on how much pressure I apply against it, I can get either a teasing flicker or a hard, consistent rubbing sensation.

The firmer silicone option I chose makes this one, I think. The little bit of extra firmness really allows the bumps to come into their own.

Verdict

Anyone surprised to hear Godemiche have knocked it out of the park once again? These Grind Pads are a fantastic addition to the clit grinder range, particularly the dual texture versions. They offer yet another array of interesting, unusual, and incredibly pleasurable sensations to explore.

I’ll never get enough of these toys, or of yelling about how fucking brilliant I think they are. This is a great option when you want to use your grinding toys in ways that aren’t penetrative sex.

Single texture Grind Pad prices start from £44.99. Firmer silicone, custom colourways, and longer straps all bump up the cost. Dual texture Grind Pads start from £49.99.

[Toy Review] OhMiBod Kiiroo Fuse

Kiiroo is currently one of the world’s biggest names in remote control and app-controlled sex toys, alongside the likes of Lovense and WeVibe. After my recent experience with the Kiiroo Pearl2+, I was excited to get to try another legendary Kiiroo toy: the OhMiBod Kiiroo Fuse.

OhMiBod Kiiroo Fuse: Details

OhMiBod Kiiroo Fuse

The OhMiBod Kiiroo Fuse is a rabbit-style vibrator. In the box you’ll find the toy, a charging cable, an instruction manual, and a silky drawstring storage bag.

The entire toy measures just over 7″ in total length. The rigid internal arm offers 5″ of insertable length and is a slimline 1.3″ in diameter. Its clitoral arm is 2″ in length and extremely flexible. The entire thing weighs in at a petite 131g.

The Fuse is rechargeable via the included USB charger, and you’ll get 1.5-2 hours of use from a full (2.5 hours) charge. It’s not waterproof, though (only splashproof) which is a little surprising from a toy at this price-point.

The Kiiroo Fuse is made from body-safe matte silicone in black or pink, accented with a silver metallic strip on the handle.

Using the OhMiBod Kiiroo Fuse Manually

With the best will in the world, I’m unlikely to regularly use an app to control a vibrator when I’m using it by myself. Aside from anything else, I need one hand to hold the toy and one hand to scroll through erotica or sext one of my partners. I simply don’t have enough hands to do a third thing, too! So I started off by testing the Fuse as just a regular rabbit vibrator, using its manual controls.

Kiiroo Fuse app controlled vibrator buttons

The Fuse’s manual mode is operated from a single-button interface, which I don’t love. It includes 7 inbuilt settings: one constant speed and 6 patterns. The lack of multiple constant power levels in manual mode is a pretty major downside! However, you can somewhat get around this by putting the toy into “touch sensitive” mode. This means it will vibrate when it is in contact with your body. The more of the toy is inside you, the harder it will vibrate. Clever, no?

The button is also sort of small, though there is a little pulsing light so it’s easy to see even if you’re playing in a dark space. The Fuse’s handle is ergonomic and comfortable to hold, and the button is well positioned.

But all of that aside, does it actually feel good? The Fuse’s shape is excellent, with a gentle curve and pronounced ridge on the head that’s ideal for G-spotting. The flexibility of the external arm makes it easy to keep consistent contact with my clit. It also means the toy is likely to suit a wider range of bodies than those with a fixed position clitoral stimulator. Physically and ergonomically, the Fuse’s design is excellent.

Finally, let’s talk about the Fuse’s vibrations. As with other Kiiroo products I’ve tried, they are strong and rumbly. One huge, major, enormous problem? You can’t control the vibrations in the two arms separately. This is a real issue if, like me, you prefer much more intense stimulation in one area than the other.

Using the Fuse with the App

Kiiroo toys like the OhMiBod Fuse really come into their own when they are connected to the Kiiroo app (called FeelConnect, available free on both Android and iOS.) I started off trying it with the app by myself (even though, as mentioned above, I’m unlikely to actually do this in general use.)

I thought I might be able to control the toy’s two vibrating portions separately through the app. Sadly, no such luck. It’s still both or neither. There are some fun features within the app, though. You can use touch control to turn the toy up or down with the swipe of a finger. For some reason, though, I COULD NOT get this to give me constant vibrations. It insisted on pulsing up and down no matter what I did.

Screenshot of Kiiroo Fuse app

The “clap control” (which is really just “sound control”) offers some interesting potential. You can adjust the sensitivity, but beware: if it’s up too high, the toy will pick up on the sound of its own vibrations and stay on regardless!

Screenshot of OhMiBod Kiiroo Fuse app

Finally, you can connect your OhMiBod Kiiroo Fuse to various erotic media including both 2D and VR porn. You’ll need a VR headset and the FeelVR app to enjoy the latter. This can provide a more immersive masturbatory experience, if that’s something you’re after. And if you’re an online performer such as a cam model, you can connect your Fuse to various camming sites and give control over to your fans in exchange for tips or as part of an interactive show.

Testing the Remote Capabilities

To test the OhMiBod Kiiroo Fuse’s remote capabilities, I embarked on a little remote vibrator sex date with my girlfriend[1][2].

We had a little trouble finding each other on the app after she set up her account, for some reason – my username showed up in her searches but hers didn’t show up in mine. I’m still not sure what the problem was here. Once we’d found each other, the toy connected quickly and the responsiveness was excellent. (Which is good news if your partner happens to enjoy switching the toy off or turning the power right down juuuuuust as you’re about to cum… ask me how I know.)

Fuse by OhMiBod and Kiiroo

You can text-chat or video call through the FeelConnect app, though you can’t send pictures, which feels like an oversight. Of course, you can also chat in a different app and switch between the two as needed if you prefer. (That’s what we did in the end.)

The person controlling the toy will see a slider. They can use this to turn the toy’s vibrations up and down. Unfortunately, as far as we could tell, that’s about the only thing they can do. There didn’t seem to be any way to turn on a pattern or pulse setting instead of the constant vibrations remotely. This wasn’t actually a problem for me – I far prefer constant vibrations to patterns! – but it’s something to be aware of if your preferences are different.

From a connectivity and responsiveness perspective, though, the OhMiBod Kiiroo Fuse is one of the best toys I’ve ever tried. Not once did the connection drop. Despite the tremendous rise of app-controlled toys recently, it is still unusual in my experience for one to work this seamlessly.

If your partner also has a Kiiroo toy, you can use the “Device to Device” functionality to control both toys at once. Which seems like it would have some very fun potential!

I think that my main use for this toy going forward will be remote play like this. It’s unlikely to be something I’ll reach for regularly by myself, but its long-distance capabilities are probably its main selling point.

[1] The eagle-eyed regular readers amongst you will notice this is the first time she’s been mentioned. Yes, it’s a new relationship. She’s wonderful and I am very happy!

[2] The things my partners do for you all! #DoingItForTheReaders.

OhMiBod Kiiroo Fuse Review: Verdict

Mixed on this one. On the plus side, very strong and rumbly vibrations that get me off hard and reliably. It’s got great connectivity and responsiveness for playing remotely with a partner. On the downside, though, the app is clunky to use. It is also surprisingly limited in functionality compared to other similar products on the market.

By far my biggest criticism about the OhMiBod Kiiroo Fuse is that you can’t operate the internal and external portions separately. This is a huge downside if you’re someone like me who prefers gentle internal vibrations or just the pressure of an insertable alongside strong clitoral vibrations. To get the strength of vibes I want on my clit, I have to deal with internal vibes that are really much more intense than I would prefer.

Overall? I think the Kiiroo Fuse is a good toy but not a great toy. It’s got great potential but also some significant flaws that need fixing to make it worth the price tag. The OhMiBod Kiiroo Fuse retails for £144/$149 at the time of writing and is available from stores such as Good Vibes and Babeland, as well as directly from Kiiroo.

Thanks to Kiiroo for sending me this product to review. All opinions and experiences are, as always, my own. Affiliate links appear within this post. Using them sends me a small commission at no extra cost to you!

Are Rose Toys Actually That Good? Unpacking the Viral Sex Toy Trend

Chances are, if you’re familiar with the sex toy industry or have spent any time in sex positive spaces online in the last couple of years, you’ll have come across rose toys. Perhaps you’ve seen a company advertising them, an influencer gushing about them on social media, or a friend has told you about how much they love theirs. But what exactly are rose sex toys, are they good, and just why are they so popular?

It Began on TikTok

I don’t really use or understand TikTok, mostly because I am over 30 and get overwhelmed easily. Therefore, I only became aware of this particular viral sensation when it spread out onto other platforms such as Twitter. I kept seeing people talking about this “rose toy for women”, so obviously I had to check it out and see what all the fuss was about.

The rose sex toys craze seemingly began sometime in early 2021. In one viral TikTok clip dated 4 May 2021, which has over 631,000 likes at the time of writing, user @_queenk_95 claims to have reached orgasm in 30 seconds with her rose adult toy. Her enthusiastic commenters agree. “WARNING USE AT UR OWN RISK YOULL NEVER BE THE SAME” [sic] one commenter claims.

Image: OOTYEMO

Needless to say, this and similar videos had users rushing to try the toy in their droves. The TikTok rose toy trend is probably one of the biggest pop culture moments in sex toys since an infamous scene from a Sex & the City episode led to many stores selling out of rabbit vibrators in the late 1990s.

“Rose Toys” Aren’t Just One Thing

The original “rose toy” that took TikTok by storm seems to have been a rose-shaped clitoral suction stimulator from Amazon. However, even a quick search for “rose sex toy” brings up over 1000 results on Amazon’s US site alone, so I think it’s safe to assume that not everyone who posted about the “rose” was referring to the exact same model.

I also really don’t recommend buying sex toys from Amazon. In a broadly unregulated industry, the chances of getting a mislabeled knock-off product (which may not even be safe) are too high.

Fortunately, there are now numerous reputable sex toy retailers selling rose sex toys, and they come in many different variations. The majority of rose toys are still based around clitoral suction, but they vary in exact shape and design, size, level of power, settings, controls, and so on. There are also versions with protruding tongues designed to simulate oral sex, versions with G-spot vibrators attached, remote control versions, and more.

In other words, the world of rose sex toys is now a vast one thanks to their explosion in popularity. So if they appeal to you, you’ve got a good chance of finding one you like.

Sex Toys That Don’t Look Like Sex Toys

For as long as there’s been a sex toy industry, there has been a market for toys that do not immediately look like what they are. From the classic lipstick and rubber duck vibrators, through to modern toys that look like little penguins or ice creams and the glass, ceramic, or steel constructions that look like works of art, there’s a sex toy to meet every preference.

Image: OOTYEMO

There are probably a few reasons behind this. Many people, unfortunately, still feel embarrassed about using toys (sex toy usage has become far less taboo in recent years but many people still aren’t comfortable with having a toy out in the open). Discreet toys are also easier to pop in your bag—or take through airport security—without worrying about someone seeing them. Then, of course, there’s the sheer aesthetic value of some toys.

The famous rose toys are no different. They don’t immediately scream “VIBRATOR” to the uninitiated, and one of the most endearing things about them is that they’re really, really pretty. As a femme, I really love pretty things and flowers, so an attractive sex toy that looks cute on my nightstand is an instant win. It’s easy to see why their aesthetic alone has helped rose flower toys grow in popularity.

A Cute Gift

Opinions on whether you should give sex toys as gifts differ. There are situations where you definitely shouldn’t (workplace Secret Santa, yes I have seen this happen) and situations where it’s maybe okay (a very close friend with whom you have that kind of open and frank relationship.) In the context of an existing sexual relationship where you know the other person’s body and preferences reasonably well, though, I’m all for it!

A rose toy could be a great gift for the flower-loving femme in your life. It’s an imaginative and sexy twist on a traditional gift, and will bring pleasure that lasts a lot longer.

Are Rose Toys as Good as the Hype Implies?

Having tried a number of rose toys at this point, I’ve had somewhat mixed but overwhelmingly positive to very positive experiences with them. As they’re primarily based on clitoral suction, rose toys deliver focused clitoral stimulation via pulses of air, which offers intense pleasure without any of the numbing effect you can get from poor-quality buzzy vibrators.

Everyone’s experience is different, of course, but many users say that clitoral suction toys such as rose toys help them to orgasm more quickly, more reliably, and more intensely than any other type of stimulation.

Today’s post was sponsored by the good folks at OOTYEMO, an online sex shop offering numerous different iterations of the rose toy as well as many other products. All writing and views are, as always, my own.

[Toy Review] Lovegasm Seductive Rose Vibrator

Rose sex toys seem to be all the rage at the moment, possibly largely thanks to one such product going viral on TikTok in early 2021. Since then, many different variations on the theme have come out from various companies, some of which I’ve tested in the past. This week, I received another of these toys to try out and review: the Seductive Rose Vibrator from Lovegasm.

Lovegasm Seductive Rose Vibrator Review: Details

The Lovegasm Seductive Rose Vibrator is not actually a vibrator in the strictest sense of the word. It’s a clitoral “suction” toy, meaning that it has an open nozzle and delivers stimuation to the clitoris via pulses of air. This petite toy measures just 2.6″ from base to top, and 2.3″ in diameter at the widest point. The nozzle is 0.5″ in diameter. It’s light and easy to hold, coming in at a petite 124g.

The charging time is around 75 minutes, and you’ll get 75-90 minutes use out of a full charge. The Seductive Rose Vibrator has a waterproof rating of IPX4, meaning it is splashproof but you should not submerge it in water.

seductive rose vibrator from Lovegasm

In the box you’ll also find a magnetic USB charging stand, an instruction leaflet, and a drawstring storage bag,

The Lovegasm Seductive Rose Vibrator is coated in soft and body-safe silicone. Confusingly, the box it came in claims the material is “silica gel”, which is a different thing entirely. I flame-tested the toy and the results indicate real silicone, which is what I already suspected from the look and feel of the material, so you can use it with confidence.

If you like pretty toys, you’ll love this one. The toy is a lovely deep red and the silicone is fashioned into delicate rose petals at the top.

Settings and Controls

The Lovegasm Seductive Rose offers 3 constant speeds and 7 patterns. You control these through a single button interface located just below the centre of the toy’s main body. The button is easy to press and responsive. It also lights up, making it easy to see if you’re playing in low light.

seductive rose vibrator from Lovegasm

I would have preferred both-ways controls to switch between settings. However, I can forgive that oversight in a toy at this price-point.

Does the Lovegasm Seductive Rose Feel Like Cunnilingus?

No.

These types of suction-based sex toys are often marketed as oral sex simulators. While I sort of understand where the thinking behind this is coming from, it’s just not really accurate. Cunnilingus is a very, very difficult think to effectively mimic with a sex toy. Despite valiant efforts, I’m not sure any toy manufacturer has succeeded yet.

So does the Seductive Rose Vibrator feel like receiving cunnilingus? No. That doesn’t mean it’s not a good toy, but it means I cannot get behind the claim that the Seductive Rose Vibrator will “satisfy your craving for oral action.” I’ve used enough pressure wave toys at this point that I don’t go in expecting them to feel like cunnilingus. A beginner to this type of toy might not know that, though, and I don’t think this kind of marketing is helpful.

Lovegasm Seductive Rose Review: In Use

With the above said, I actually think the Lovegasm Seductive Rose Vibrator is a great toy! The motor is strong enough to get the job done, and the range of settings allows you to explore with different sensations. I also like that the smaller nozzle allows for intensely focused and targeted clitoral stimulation. This is such an easy toy to use – I pretty much just switch it to my favourite setting, put it in place, and hold it there until I come. Bliss!

Here’s a little pro tip for you: if a toy like this one is too intense when you place it directly over your clit, try positioning it over the hood instead. You’ll still get all that focused sensation, but with a little less intensity.

The Lovegasm Seductive Rose Vibrator isn’t too loud, coming in at around 60 dB at its loudest. If it’s switched on and the door is closed, it cannot be heard in the next room.

Thanks to its light weight, the Seductive Rose is easy to angle and position. It is comfortable to hold in place even for an extended session. It’s worth bearing in mind that the nozzle is on the smaller side. Genitals, like all body parts, come in different shapes and sizes and this toy might not be a good fit if you have a larger glans clitoris (that’s the external bit.)

Verdict

The Lovegasm Seductive Rose retails for just £29.83, making it an excellent budget-friendly sex toy. With body-safe materials, a decent motor, multiple settings to choose from, and an attractive design, it’s got everything you need in a basic clitoral toy at an affordable price-point.
